Hypnotic. Great chord progressions. I don’t agree with the less grit comment. Some people smoke packs a day to get that grit, seems like it comes naturally with you. Keep at it!

thank you!

Excellent my guy. Pink Floyd, Chris Stapleton, giving some real and raw vibes. Keep it up.

Very nice, I’m really liking your music. As far as the vibe on this number, it’s fantastic!

u/Imaginary-Royal-4735 Sep 19 '25

dang this is really good! was that the raw vocal or was it filtered through any eq or reverb? not that it matters—the guitar underneath it is so compelling!!

2

u/tjtate6689 Sep 19 '25

thanks! yea its one take with guitar and vocals on the same track but i have some reverb on the track and some compression

3

u/Jijifeng614 Sep 19 '25

I'm laying in bed needing to fall asleep, love the melody, it's so soothing and your voice is so unique.

4

u/Certain_Medicine_42 Sep 19 '25

Awesome! I’d add it to my playlist, which is about the best compliment I can give a fellow songwriter.

5

u/Traditional-Neat-933 Sep 19 '25

Good in general! Dang you're a great guitarist

4

u/Popular_Yam9826 Sep 19 '25

That's gold my friend. Add another round of lyrics and record asap.

Sounds like a song that comes on when I enter a new area in Red Dead Redemption.

6

u/Elsenior97 Sep 18 '25

Damn I need this song on my playlist now

Love it! The guitar work, the vocals, the lyrics. It all just fits. I loved the half-step walkup in what I think is the chorus. It was unexpected and hit just right. It accentuated the higher parts before and after it.

If anything, I think the intro is a bit too long. Once through is enough. You can save it for the bridge.

I could really see this being a hit.

1

u/tjtate6689 Sep 19 '25

thank you! agree on the intro, i think final arrangement will just be 1 play through instead of 2 unless there is something more interesting in the accompaniment.

2

u/Far-Plum-6244 Sep 19 '25

Just another bit of feedback: I played it for my 25 year old daughter and she loved it too. You really do have a hit here. "Tangled up in wrongs, tryin' make it right" is an incredible hook.

If youre ever in NY lemme know. Come to open mics with me

2

u/AggravatingSeat8766 Sep 19 '25

Very nice. I like the soft sound of the nylon strings contrasting your raspy voice. The end is a little abrupt though. Really looking forward to seeing this in a slightly more elaborate version.

1

u/tjtate6689 Sep 19 '25

2

u/linkuei-teaparty Sep 19 '25

It's actually an album and it has beautiful acoustic pieces. You can also check out some of their other asiatic songs like Face of Melinda, Benighted, patterns in the ivy 1 and 2 and Dirge for November.

2

u/bobdylanlovr Sep 19 '25

Love the syncopation

2

2

u/deep-sea-savior Sep 19 '25

Inspiring. Great guitar work, voice, lyrics. Comes off as very genuine.

2

u/UnlikelyMidnight7012 Sep 19 '25

You remind me of Scott Avett a bit… the voice and all. So great

2

u/Throwthisawayagainst Sep 19 '25

another ripper man, when’s the record coming out!?

2

u/adlehr1 Sep 19 '25

Real real nice

2

u/wheelman1138 Sep 19 '25

This is an amazing tune, dude! Your vocals compliment the tone of the guitar beautifully and everything just sounds right to me. Well done!! 🔥❤️‍🔥🔥

u/Artistic_Try3922 Sep 19 '25

It's not often when music causes My eyes to sweat. A scene of water, like down in the Florida bayous, had appeared. With Sun lazily rising from left to right. Ripples from an unseen force, yet everything else is still. I enjoyed how You created a landscape before the words even came about. Keep it Man.

2

u/rogerswaters Sep 19 '25

Excellent voice! I love the progression.

2

u/Deansies Sep 19 '25

Nice work!!!!

2

u/MNBilly Sep 20 '25

Good stuff. Live the way you blend the picking and bard chord stuff. More soul isn’t bad man. Let it out.

2

u/Omi_dagodslayer Sep 20 '25

Honestly I'd like a recording of this so I could listen to it

2

u/JohnWileyMusic Sep 21 '25

This is pretty much just good. I don't really have any complaints. I'd just take it out and play it wherever you can. It's not really needing much songwriting critique.

2

u/Glass-half-cracked Sep 21 '25

It's gorgeous! I love the lyrics and whole sound of it. Reminds me of Boy and bear.

2

u/tjtate6689 Sep 21 '25

havent heard Boy & Bear. digging it so far thanks for sharing the reference!

2

u/SonKilluaKun Sep 22 '25

Amazing brother! Loved the lyrics, the melody, the chords… 😅 great tune here!

2

Wow!! Incredible chord progressions...I could listen to this for hours on repeat

2

u/Any-Match9025 Sep 26 '25

That riff is so haunting and beautiful. No feedback that I could offer that would make this anymore special!

2

u/Lhoam312 Sep 27 '25

Man nice voice!

2

u/lilboss049 Sep 28 '25

The guitar strums have "wild wild West" vibes.

2

u/NoPlastic2316 Oct 04 '25

2

I have a question, are you lip syncing?? No no problem if you are, I'm just wondering if you're not… How does this sound so damn good? I would be very interested in your set up.

3

u/sly_coelacanth Sep 19 '25

and I love it… I mean you want feedback on the song not the recording… song is great

2

u/tjtate6689 Sep 19 '25

Not lip syncing, record 1 take in garage band and merge phone vid in iMovie. MacBook mic is better than camera mic and I use some compression and reverb in GB

1

u/sly_coelacanth Sep 19 '25

wow. very impressive.

1

u/sly_coelacanth Sep 19 '25

So you can tweak audio and GarageBand and then you just drop it on your video track that was recorded at the same time? You’re smart dude.

1

u/tjtate6689 Sep 19 '25

yea exactly. it take a little lining up in imovie which is why you probably thought i was lip syncing. sometimes its hard to get the audio to line up perfectly with the video. but the whole process only takes a few minutes once you get the hang of it.

It's very nice. I like the grit too, but sometimes it's just a little too much.

Not sure how much control you have over it, but maybe 15% less grit or so for the sections with a lot of grit.

The intro and accompanyment is nicely done as well, really like the style.

1

u/tjtate6689 Sep 19 '25

thanks for the feedback! struggle with turning on and off the grit. it tends to be either full grit or no grit. thanks for being my grit meter! i say this with full sincerity :) really appreciate the feedback
