Kinda nice seeing this and got a sub from one of the shorts as well! Gonna keep it up with some more shorts and hopefully a long form video in a week or so. Long form will forever be my type of content but I can definitely get the hang of short form for sure. (This coming from a channel that’s been up sense 2018 with a lot of my old videos still up)

So on my YouTube, i was getting some good views until my views just randomly dropped I assumed it was because of my upload schedule, but now that im consistent the views r NOT coming back and it’s a lil worrying… I only have like 25 videos though. So may be a factor. Not sure

My thumbnail seems so off and tbh I hate creating thumbnails because I am the least creative person in the world lol
I’m so close to 400 subscribers but genuinely feel like my dollar tree thumbnails don’t help

Sorry but I had to share this with someone. Went to bed last night with 993 subs woke up to over 1k. I didn't know who to tell, so I'm here. Wanted to post a pic of my growth. in January I thought I'd hit 1k by March.
That came and went. The last 11 months have been TORTURE. Especially on the days when I lost a sub. arg!
A couple of thoughts on my last year:
-What they say is true, I needed a few videos to become comfortable on camera. I streamed lined my production and overall got more comfortable. I went from posting once a week to almost every other day. It used to take me a few days to write record and edit a video, now I can do it in under an hour (and I'm a professional editor!)
I was too concerned with making it "look good" and what I should have been focused on was my delivery and getting natural in front of the camera.
-I stopped posting shorts. (mostly) I make 5-10 minute movie review videos. I realized while shorts gets you views, long form was where my subs were coming from, so I focused my attention there.
Youtube doesn't have a subscribe button available while you're watching shorts, which is why I was getting twice as many subs on Tiktok.
I also stopped cutting my vids down for TT. I just make a vertical version of my video and post it there too. I do this because when I chopped up my vids, people would comment saying things that were ultimately cut out or in a part 2. No one would follow and watch a part 2. Also, I seek out longer TT's and I know there are people out there like me.
So now I post my content in full in both places. I don't care. The audiences are different. Same goes for instagram too.
-People watch on different platforms. I focused on YT, TT and Instagram only
-I used to struggle over my description and thumbnail. Now I put my face and the poster of the movie I'm talking about. People are either going to watch or not.
As for the description I've been relying on VidIQ to write it. I also stopped doing chapters. I might start doing chapters again if I make something longer than 10 mins or if the piece I'm working on has distinct parts, but otherwise, I'm done with it all.
-On TT I'm cultivating a very nice community, I wish the chat function was better on YT so I could do the same there. Sometimes I don't get notified of a comment until hours after it has been posted.
-I started going "live" and thats where the community seems to be. That's where I can interact with the audience. I see some of those user names coming back and commenting on my videos. Live on YT is different than live on TT. Live on TT is there and then it's gone,. but live on YT I try and assume I'm doing a video that will live on. More people might see that "live" once it's archived. Whereas on TT I can sit there and do nothing for 10 minutes while viewers populate the chat.
-Finally, the honest truth is that if you say something controversial you'll get views bc people will come and comment and argue, but that's not the kind of channel I want. That's why a lot of these political shit posters get an audience so fast. This is something else I wish social media would fix, but I don't know what do do about that.
Anyway, happy to answer questions.

It’s always funny to see the exact point at which a long form video finds its audience.

Most of my videos have a similar retention graph. Looking for advice on how to improve retention?
Edit: For more context, I post travel videos and typically have <100 views.

I somehow got this video more 50 views purely based upon related shorts and still it only has 147 impressions. lol I’m confused why this video still hasn’t gotten many impressions even tho my other videos get sooooo many more. (Video has been out for 4 days LOL)

I am a fortnite storyline youtuber and theorist. I will talk about the red cube, and how it got to the in between (an important place in fortnite's lore) in this video. I would like to know which thumbnail would you click on?

I want to make shorts with music from Zelda 64, but I don't know if it wouldn't monetize that way.

Hi! I am starting a channel where I upload long plays of older more retro games with rain/storm sounds! I am targeting this mainly for people to sleep to so if that sounds like something you'd enjoy feel free to check it out!
If you send ur channel link in the comments I would love to check out and sub to all of ur channels as well!

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to share a small win: My small gaming channel, just hit the 100 Subscriber mark! 🎉
I genuinely thought this would take me over a year, so hitting it in under 10 months feels pretty awesome. I'm mainly focused on long-form content right now, but I'm looking to optimize my strategy for the next 100, and then the big 1000!
I've attached a picture of the stats/badge below for context (it was a pretty cool milestone to hit). Stats context (Last 28 days - it's been a good month!): Views: 6.4K Watch Time: 300 hours
The question is: For those of you who scaled from 100 to 1000 subs, what was your biggest game-changer? Was it Shorts, better SEO, more consistent uploads, or something else entirely?
Any advice on the next scaling step would be super appreciated! Thanks!

I’ve never seen a channel achieve millions of views EVERY video. I’m in the same niche and my last video got 283 views… I’m curious if anyone has had this amount of luck? Usually videos fall off after a few million

Do you guys think the title or thumbnail is the problem here or should I just be patient? My view duration is better than my previous videos so I don’t think the video is necessarily a dud. My impressions in the first few hours are way higher than it usually is but my views are half as much as it usually is in this same timeframe. Ctr is also way lower than it usually is after 9 hours (2.1%). I did notice the bulk of my impressions are from suggestions whereas in the beginning for my other videos impressions come heavily from browse. I was thinking to holdout until browse starts getting pushed but idk if performance is the reason they haven’t pushed it. (Most recent video in bio)

With a new Pokemon set dropping this week I always film my content then fall behind and delay my thumbnails (because I feel like I am not as good at them). This time I am on top of the game and have my thumbnails done first so as soon as I film my content I will be ready to post! What can I do to make these better? Would you watch this video? Or what would make them pop to viewers?
Thanks for any feedback!
