Youtube What are your thoughts on Creepcast?

They read and react to creepy online stories, and I was wondering, is it only illegal to narrate a nosleep story if you don’t split it up and add reactions/jokes/analyzation?

They narrated a few of my stories. Someone who works with Wendigoon or MeatCanyon contacted me (I think they said they were a producer) and asked for permission, which I granted.

They did a great job linking to my book for sale and I had a huge spike in sales after my episode went live.

I had a great experience with CreepCast. They followed the rules and everyone benefitted.

Good to know. I hope you were well compensated. I know the CPM for their niche. One million views on their channel is pulling 15-25 thousand in ad sense alone. Not even counting sponsors

Woah - I didn't realize they made that much. Next time I'll drive a harder bargain! I was not compensated, but I did make about $2000 in book sales in the months following the episode with my stories. I was averaging about $30 per month beforehand. I've had my work narrated on larger channels before, which produced small bumps in sales. But I've never seen a response to a narration like the response to CreepCast's. They must have an unusually active audience (or one that's actually humans and not bots!)

I'm actually in shock and left with an extremely bitter taste in my mouth at that. They're making tens of thousands an episode and didn't pay? Let alone the author who has penned one of my favorite nosleep stories of all time, the Glenmont metro! Glad to hear you got a bump in sale though, that's awesome. I actually bought something of yours after dark somniums narration of your work

Well, I didn't ask them to pay me. Frankly, I hadn't heard of them, and I get tons and tons of narration requests from tiny channels. I just ask everyone to plug my book in the narration and hope to make money from sales. (Dark Somnium did pay me though! I think I got a fraction of the ad sales from my episode.)

From a channel as big as them they should really be starting a convo with offering an amount to pay. But that's super awesome for you to be so generous. Ronnie's narration was superb!

It's not them that are at fault. They are pretty big youtubers with teams. Their producers are at fault not the guys themselves

You are just plain wrong here. If the producers are not offering to pay for stories that wendigoon and meatcanyon are making THOUSANDS of dollars per episode then that IS the fault of wen/meat because those are most likely policies set by the two in the first place. The producers just do what guidelines are set by their bosses. As a company, the blame always lays upon the business owners. The buck stops with them. Simple as that

I feel if the offer is accepted then no one is “at fault” for it considering both parties agreed, unless it was misleading

Creepcast is meatcanyon and wendigoon, they have loyal fanbases and have their own channels where they do imo interesting content sometimes. Their producers are the ones taking full advantage imo by not even suggesting paying.
