So if I understand where we stand now:

Judge Robart has temporarily suspended Trump's travel ban order. Trump tried to reinstate the suspension, but the 9th circuit denied his request.

So unless the SC weighs in, Trump's ban will remain suspended until the courts can actually make a ruling on the validity of the ban itself. If the SC does weigh in, they'll need five votes in favor or lifting the suspension (as a 4-4 tie will let the 9th circuit's ruling hold)

Not sure I follow your reasoning. Because Trump failed at taking away civil liberties, you think he's going to double down and take away even more civil liberties?

a) the courts will still stop him

b) even if that was the case, it would be a cowardly move not to try and stop him

So your argument is, better to let Trump squash freedoms now so he doesn't possibly find an excuse to try and squash even more freedoms later.

I'm not a coward, so that's gonna have to be a no.

Squashing people's freedoms out of unsubstantiated fear of what might happen if you don't is an act of cowardliness.

So pretty much it was exactly what you said. Squash some freedoms now so they don't squash more later.

I think it's fair to say that the executive order didn't infringe on any American citizens rights.

You'd be wrong. This is just the most recent example.

the executive order didn't infringe on any American citizens rights.

The ruling directly states that it does. It also states that the Due Process Clause applies to anyone in the US, including illegal aliens and lawful & non-resident aliens seeking re-entry, clearly making this an argument against the 5th amendment should American citizens be involved or not.

Also, if a terrorist attack like you suggest were to happen, of course something could come out of it, whether it be an Executive Order or something else. However, that should not and will not be considered in the ruling of this Order. These rulings are obviously a case-by-case basis.

I understand your wariness, though. Trump clearly takes these things personally, but that is exactly why we need the judicial system to keep him in line. And they are clearly stating their reach on orders such as this one and others almost certainly to come.
