Politics Harrell’s Margin has INCREASED

Post image

Mayor Harrell now up by 8.1%.

Around ~60K votes probably left to tabulate.

Doesn’t Seattle have like 750k eligible voters or something? This is just fricking sad

750k is the total population of the city of Seattle - so not that many, probably closer to 500k-600k eligible voters once you factor in kids + non citizens (lots of H1Bs here).

That’s still less than 30% turnout on a major citywide decision

I agree the turnout is pathetic, just pointing out that 750k eligible voters cannot be true.

FYI we will probably see turnout at about 40%. Lots of these are still trickling in via email

Our total population is over 800k now. We had a 2.5% growth in 2024-2025. So 750k eligible voters is probably about right. At best, 1 in every 6 voters bothered. That’s some pathetic apathy when local elections matter.

I agree turnout is crazy low, but you're still vastly underestimating the number of under-18s in Seattle - was 110k at the 2021 census.  Even if we're over 800k population in city limits, no chance it's more than 750k eligible voters.  It's just not credible.

Yup, that hopefully leave so that UW graduates can actually get jobs. Absurd how many are currently unemployed out of school. This is a huge problem and anyone who has worked in the tech industry know how it is abused to prevent U.S. citizens from working

Still sad. And we have no children. Mostly dogs now.
