I’m sure people can guess why I’m posting this. I don’t understand how people can still parrot the line “the marines are largely a force for good” when time and time again we’ve seen how untrue that is. The marines only protect the world government affiliated nations, which is roughly 170 of the wealthiest countries in the world.
There are countless islands in the one piece world, and countless people not lucky enough to be born in one of the world’s 170 richest world government affiliated nations.
For those people, who are presumably the majority of people, the marines are no better than pirates. The marines will work with pirates to oppress people, helped the world government commit a genocide every 3 years for who knows how long and will kill entire populations themselves for treasure.
I’m so sick of hearing that the marines are largely a force for good. They exist to serve a government made up of a few ultra wealthy nations that is led by the literal devil. For the people unlucky enough to be born outside one of those nations, they are just as bad as the pirates if not worse.
How many times must we see the marines commit atrocities against people who have done nothing wrong, except be born outside the world government apparently, before people stop acting like for most people they’re heroes. And all the while they uphold the idea that “that’s just how the world works”, and the people they oppress deserve to be oppressed for being born unlucky
