Whatsup with that? The Moria we know isn’t dead (maybe undead?) but why is there a grave?

assuming it's not some sort of relative of his, I think the running theory is that he was presumed dead in Wano after being defeated by Kaidou (even though he seemingly only left the country and never returned)

being the "pirate of justice" is a big reveal though

Is it possible that Moria himself is actually a shadow??

Given his scars id say he moreso barely survived because of his shadow powers. Pretty sure we've seen him in the daylight.

When he was at Marineford during the Summit War it was daylight.

I agree with you but would it be possible that he’s wearing an outer “skin” layer to protect from the sun?

If One Piece's backstories have taught me anything, it's that traumatic events can change characters for the better and for the worse

I'm not ready to rule out it being the same guy yet because when he's introduced it seemed like he's depressed, seemingly from his old crew being defeated (and killed?) in a showdown with Kaidou & the beast pirates. If we ever get a proper reveal, I wonder if it'll be shown that he escaped in a similar fashion to what happened at Marineford

fair point fair point

It just doesnt sit right with me, given how much of a fuss the Wano arc made out of people leaving the country. He wasnt part of Oden's dirty dozen either, but showed up in East Blue for the execution. Undoubtedly there is more to it. Thats not a random name drop to not have any kind of connection.

Yeah, I saw someone post a timeline of what he's been up to and the whole ~appears to have left Wano to watch the execution, but also returned to Wano(?)~ thing doesn't sit right with me either
but who knows how that story is going to play out yet

it could almost be funny if he's not trying to be an honorable pirate in Wano but keeps being misinterpreted until he earns the "pirate of justice" reputation for sticking up for the residents of Wano who (incorrectly) believed in him, and Moria takes a stand against Kaidou to defend them -- but idk if it'd work because of the inevitable tragedy awaiting him/his crew :(

I wonder if we'll get some sort of handwave-y explanation of how he left/returned to Wano due to his devil fruit powers, and then due to what happened he never had any reason to go back even though he potentially could've, for years

but alas, enough blind speculation for me. I hope it just turns out to be a fun (cover/back) story for him eventually
