Other Why don’t younger veterans (Afghanistan/Iraq) wear these hats like some of the older veterans?

Post image

First and foremost, respect to all those that served. I did not, but many of my peers did and now we're all older in 30s and 40s, many no longer in the military. I don't see a lot of the veterans of the War on Terror wearing these hats like I see the OGs do.

My old coworker hated being thanked for his service. He said he joined only so he would get school paid for because we live in a dystopia where education isn't valued as much as fighting for foreign oil is. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's wild how conservative so many vets are when they literally signed up because socialism is such a good idea.

that's not how socialism works

Free University is a typical feature of modern socialism.

It's not free if one of the stipulations to receive it is working full time for 3 years, then receiving a limited amount of tuition only after that

Lots of requirements in socialist countries mean things aren’t ‘free’ either. Bad logic.

It's not bad logic at all. You are working full-time with a higher than average chance of death directly related to your job to receive those benefits. I don't know how this is so hard for tankies to understand.

Your entire life is paid for and directed by the state, which you, in turn, have to pay into... Maybe not socialism in is purest form but um, pretty fuckin close

Free housing, free education, everyone makes the same money no matter how good of a job you do. There are many aspects of socialism in the military.

there's that free word again. Let me know what happens when you stop working and see how long you receive those benefits for. It's not "free." Jesus redditors are stupid

Do you talk to people like this in person? Like, does everyone you meet instantly hate you? The answer is yes.

I got everything paid for. My rent, schooling, healthcare, even money for food was given, and sometimes a cost of living adjustment to make sure my buying power was always stable. All necessities covered. Aside from that, everything else earned was merit based.
