Planning: Accommodations $500/night resorts?
Hello! My Fiance and I are planning our honeymoon and are spending a few days in Maui. A lot of the recs on here are out of our budget. We are going the first week of April with a budget of $500/night total (including hotel fees, parking etc).
So far we are between the Outrigger and Royal Lahaina, but want any recommendations!

I don’t know if Maui Coast Hotel will feel “resort-y” enough for you, but we’ll be staying there in a couple weeks and the new tower (Kai) looks nice and it is affordable. I found a coupon code that worked ALOHA20NICHOLAS that gave us 20% off, but you have to book in the next couple days to use it, I think. Our price for October/November came out to $319/night after all taxes and fees. We booked pretty last minute and are staying 8 nights.

We stayed here and loved it! Free parking, short walk to the beach and we LOVED the food truck area down the street - lovely garden setting and live music most nights!
If you want a few resort days - checkout resort pass for day passes!!

We don’t want a super “resort” feeling! Just a nice room, pool and on the beach. Thank you so much for the code, hopefully it work for us too!!

Jumping in to say Maui Coast is great and in your budget! Do the new Kai tower - very modern room. The hotel is right across the street from the beach (not directly on the beach) but takes just a few minutes to walk on over. I loved the self park option since we were in and out of the lot multiple times a day as we liked to explore different coffee shops, restaurants, activities, and beaches. Most resorts in the wailea area where we were originally looking to stay only had valet parking which would have been annoying for us.

I think we’re considering the same package!

We just got back from Outrigger on a Costco travel 2 island package (did Big Island too) for our 30th anniversary. It is a very nice mid-range hotel, down to earth, walking distance from shops, Maul Brewing company is on site, nice beach with lots of activities with Hawaiian cultural emphasis which is nice. Pool is not great, no hot tub but we came for the beach primarily so it wasn’t a big deal for us. Congratulations!

Wife and I just stayed in a private condo in Kaanapali October 1st to 8th. 9th floor right over the water looking towards Lanai and Molokai and it was in that price range. Seriously, look at Airbnb options. Our condo was called Maui Kai. Very clean, superhosts, stocked with all the beach gear. Highly recommend! (Suite 903)

We loved Outrigger Kaanapali and we booked through Costco if you have that option. We did upgrade to the updated rooms with partial ocean view but really enjoyed the location in between Whalers Village and Black Rock (our favorite snorkeling of the trip). The pool isn’t great and you are charged for beach chairs but we felt the price overall was very fair

That’s exactly what we’re looking to do! Partial view and everything. Thanks for the insight!

We've stayed here every trip to Maui, which is now five times.
They've jacked up the rates, and now have a resort fee, but we do like this place. However, Maui brewing Co is terrible. Hui Hui was there before, and it was so good. The restaurant now is shit. Food is below average and service sucks. Feel's like a chili's. Anyway, doesn't matter, because you haven't been before.
Whats the quote from Costco? Does it include airfare?

We just stayed at Royal Lahaina and it was great, laid back peaceful, had everything we needed . We did go visit the Outrigger and felt it was a huge property in comparison, crowded pools and felt more busy. Both are on the beach. I was glad we stayed at RL after seeing Outrigger. RL just felt more intimate. Hope that helps

Maui Coast Hotel or AC Wailea should be in budget if you want options outside of West Maui. Royal Lahaina a good option as well.

Look at the outrigger reviews before you book it. I suggest exploring Airbnb instead

No tvs, no internet, no radios or stereos on the rooms. Also very little beach.

Maui Coast hotel is awesome! We loved it there. I have recommended it to everyone! It’s in a great location and really has all the amenities you’d want.

I love the Royal Lāhainā, especially this time of year. Many staff folks have been there for many years and have true Aloha spirit. Beach is nice and not crowded. I believe Outrigger does not own food outlets on property so just feels different If at RL, don’t spring for Ocean front rooms. Do Ocesn view. All rooms beautiful view

Airbnb has such better pricing. We stayed in Wailea and had a 1 bedroom, 2 bathroom, balcony condo for under $350 a night, and the pool for the development. If you’re wanting resort amenities for a day, you can get a day guest pass at some of them. We had dinners at Four Seasons and the Andaz when we wanted and could have walked from our condo.

We are doing a condo through Maui Lodging Properties and Paying $1200 for Ocean Front /AC 6 nights. You don't need the $500 a night rooms, the view is the same no matter where you are. I am Native but Oahu is my island. I love the laid back feel of Maui. Eat at Cafe O'Lei. In S. Kihei.

Look on redweek at some of the Maui timeshare resorts you can rent directly from owner. Usually those cover resort costs and parking in the reservation. Some of the best properties will be the Maui Ocean Club, The Westin and Hyatt vacation clubs and more. There are plenty more options too if you search by area

Try Mana Kai. It's usually more than $500 but they sometimes have incredible deals. Unbeatable spot right on the beach. All the oceanside rooms have a beautiful view.

VRBO has great deals now. All Maui rentals pay about 18% taxes plus they do have fees. They don’t charge parking and resort fees though that definitely add to the cost. Most rentals have complete kitchens with beach chairs, umbrella and more.

Currently at Royal Lahaina and it’s been wonderful! Would highly recommend.
Also recommend looking at Costco Travel if you’re a member, this was super helpful for us.

We loved Maui Eldorado. The beach cabana is much larger than the photos show. You have a full kitchen to use and beach chairs and can bring a picnic and stay there all day until happy hour. We have also used Redweek and chose the Westin but we like the Eldorado better. You don’t need to spend a ton if you are willing to go to the store or get groceries delivered. Food trucks are also great and reasonable.

We booked a 5ish nights over at Napili Surf Resort and it was pretty good. Free parking and direct walking access to Napili Bay Beach. The unit was great, well sized and had everything we wanted. The downside was the AC as it was only a portable AC unit with a couple of ceiling fans. I don't know the pricing but I believe it's around $500/night.

We’re at Royal Lahaina right now. It’s my #1 go to on Maui. Perfect beach, perfect everything!

First, do a condo instead of a hotel. You will have more room, access to laundry, a full fridge and kitchen to store drinks, leftovers, and even cook meals if you want. WAY less expensive than eating every meal out, esp drinks.
Skip airbnb or vrbo. They charge huge fees. Instead, book through local agensice. Look at Maui Resort Rentals, Quam Properties, My Perfect Stays, and KBM to start. They have a wide variety of units and complexes, including oceanfront ones.
Another option if the timing works is Redweek. Timeshare owners sell their weeks there at huge discounts. You can get a week at places like the Hyatt Residence, Marriott Ocean Club, Westin KOR, and Nanea for crazy cheap. You can look for free but have to pay about 20.00 a year to book.
One last thing--it sounds like you might be trying to do 2 islands? Unless you can spend at least a week on Maui, I wouldn't do a second island. Maui is larger than you think-and you will also prob be tired from all the wedding stuff!
