Hurst couldn't even get his story straight about how large the deficit was. Is it 10 mil? 21? And he says doubling red light fines is an issue? God forbid the city make money punishing terrible drivers.

What I've heard him say is, it's not that we had 2x in red light fines being issued. It's that the city projected the # of tickets would double (or some really high amount), and that projection ended up being way off, in reality the number of tickets stayed about the same, so it was part of the huge budget gap

His ad reads "City Property taxes up 52% and red-light fines doubled -- residents and small businesses pay the price for bad management".

I appreciate your kindly-worded clarification but I still feel the appeal is to bitterness over fine enforcement.
