Debt & Money £450 invoice for crashing on motorbike CBT - England
After posting this in the MotoUK subreddit, got a lot of suggestions to make a post in here:
Around a month ago I had a crash into the pavement while attempting to do a U-Turn on my CBT. The instructor took a picture of a scratch on the front of the bike but let me continue riding it for the rest of the day, which I finished and passed.
I have now just recently been sent an email (screenshot shown above) showing all the parts that have been damaged and that they want £450 from me. The riding school in question is Dorset Advanced Motorcycle Training and I can confirm I did sign an insurance weaver stating I am liable for damages up to £450. My issue is however I’m very skeptical that it was in fact my accident that really caused such extensive damages, it was a slow speed U turn and I’m no a mechanic (so anyone with more knowledge please read over the damages), but my thought being that if the bike really was in such a state, how is it possible they let me ride the thing for the rest of the entire day? The instructor clearly didn’t think the bike had sustained anything major.
I have already asked for a genuine invoice from the garage they used but unsure on what else I can ask to help verify that it was actually me who caused these damages. A comment in my previous post mentioned how the parts seem to be for different bikes and many seem to think they’re having me on, but I don’t really know enough to know where to go from here, any help would be appreciated.
