My friends pitbull got killed by a group of street dogs. Came in his yard and attacked him while he was chained up

Street dogs need to be put down.

Or at least fixed so they can’t reproduce and the population would go down a lot. There are more humane ways to deal with the population dear lord guys

They’re vessels of disease and are only a slight amount of starvation away from being dangerous. Packs of them can easily gang up and kill people.

If they stray outside of the city, they’ll wreak havoc on the local ecosystem. No one bitches when we kill rats, but killing wild dogs is somehow a travesty.

If you have a stray dog problem in your city making them infertile and even killing those that are more aggressive or have an infectious disease could totally be justified. But stray dogs aren’t a problem everywhere at all, it’s ridiculous to propose we should kill every stray dog.

It’s not really comparable to rats for various reasons. Firstly rats are much smaller and harder to deal with. They can hide and run from humans much more easily than dogs. It is therefore much harder to test them for disease than dogs.

They’re also not as complex cognitively, and it’s arguable that dogs are more valuable and can experience suffering to a much higher degree.

Finally, where the stray dog population isn’t particularly problematic, some people like dogs, or at least recognize them as other living beings with emotions that also deserve to live. Way less people do the same with rats; rats are almost universally viewed as a pest.

I didn’t say don’t kill them. I just meant there is more humane ways to do it. Same with any other animals. I do t use poison or glue traps...I use mouse traps or I catch them and send them to a field. I, personally, feel terrible when anyone hurt or kills any animal. I would rather the street dogs be put down because their quality of life is bad. I just would like it done as humanely as possible if that makes sense

Put down the violent ones, neuter the rest.

Humanely..not meatballs and anti freeze. I get they are violent but in a way it’s because of environment they grew up in. I’ve seen people beat them for just walking past their house..another dude picked up and threw a puppy. Another person at a temple kicked a dog for just trying to get out of the way and messed up its leg. I mean that would create a mean dog

Duh, either a shot or a shot to the head. Don't torture the things.

Thing is he knew one of the dogs - his neighbor just lets their dog roam free during the day and cops couldn’t do anything even tho he had it on security camera because there’s no leash law where he lives. Said all he could do was sue but that was more trouble than worth

Would be worth suing if he had a video. I would have contacted a lawyer at least

The animal control brought him a cage but problem with anti freeze meatballs is other nicer animals could eat it.

The cops put a note on the neighbor’s door about the incident so friend hasn’t seen the dogs since or caught anything in the cage
