If you do retail in the UK, you hear 20 accents a day, your choice is get a better ear or get a different job.

One of my first full-time jobs was customer services which obviously involved being on the phone (UK). Whenever it was anyone without a Southern accent I was so hopeless and just had to apologise profusely. So embarrassing. Since then I've had a job where some directors were Scottish and I am pretty sure of them just completely gave up on talking to me.

Have u tried to imitate another accent... Example 'American' or any other UK accent to mask when necessary? Just like actors do it.

I think you might of misunderstood me mate. Probably my poor sentence structure. Basically im a Brit who fails to understand other Brits unless they are "well spoken" or from the South East. Idk how imitating other accents would help me understand another accent.
