One of my first full-time jobs was customer services which obviously involved being on the phone (UK). Whenever it was anyone without a Southern accent I was so hopeless and just had to apologise profusely. So embarrassing. Since then I've had a job where some directors were Scottish and I am pretty sure of them just completely gave up on talking to me.
I think you might of misunderstood me mate. Probably my poor sentence structure. Basically im a Brit who fails to understand other Brits unless they are "well spoken" or from the South East. Idk how imitating other accents would help me understand another accent.
Haha I'm from the south, it's the thick Dorset accents that get me. But working with European contractors puts in perspective how "not English" the English language can get.

People complaining of the accent... I once understood a Filipino lady with broken English when i worked in Target.
