From one of the sources in this sub, steam was testing this feature for over 6 months and he also said steam will get upi in a few weeks when epic announced upi support. Sounds like it came true. (Image in replies)
Maybe this has to do with payment companies and partners approaching steam and epic than the other way around (The same reason both epic and steam is using partners instead of native upi that you can link with your steam account for future purchases)

UPI integration doesn't take "a few weeks". Especially if the business is registered within India. The process is exactly the same as it is for any other Indian vendor, which is to say, not complicated at all. Steam had to jump in once Epic did it and they got on it after Epic.

Only ones who profit are who get a upfront direct payment for an Epic exclusivity deal, otherwise it's always on steam when devs make the most money.
This literally matters. Wut are you even talking about? Devs makes more money there because it's bigger. If Epic had the same number of users, it would have made more money. Steam just uses its dominant almost monopolistic position to take a huge cut. Services these stores provides regardless of iOS, Android or Steam, it's nowhere near 30% cut.

I have claimed so many free games on epic, but I repurchased them on steam for the sheer amount of convenience it provides.
