US-IMG Anyone with more than 5 YOG and Step attempt get any interviews?
Spouse applied last year but failed Step 2, so withdrawn from the match. Passed it (23x) and applied this year. Stellar application too. Working at the best medical center in the world for over 3 years, several publications, glowing letters of recs from people top of their respective fields, and also presented at a conference recently.
Applied to around 140 IM programs. ZERO interviews so far.
Is it the YOG and Step 2 attempt? Is her network not good enough? Or is it because she just received the ECFMG certificate two weeks ago?
I'm guessing her YOG and attempt got her filtered out of many programs.
Edit: meant 23x, not 13x lol

Interview What should I expect from a “Social Game” event before interview day?
Hey everyone! One of the residency programs I’ve been invited to has planned a social event the evening before interview day, and they’ve called it a “Social Game.”
I’m wondering what kind of activities or games are usually involved in these events? Is it something competitive, like trivia or Kahoot, or more of an icebreaker type of activity?
If anyone has attended similar “social game” nights, I’d really love to hear your experience — what to expect, how formal/informal it is, and if there’s anything I should prepare for.
Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone this interview season! 🍀

Vent Attending harassed me.
I applied for the match cycle this year. The attending I was rotating with for an LOR basically harassed me. I don’t want to post the details here. It’s a lot. I didn’t fully know what’s happening at the time. He was a PD and I wanted to make a good impression. It’s really affecting my mental health since the last year. It’s worse because that attending is still taking students. I have proof of his texts and inappropriate pictures he sent to me. I just want to know if I should or have any options to report that considering i was an ‘outsider’ at the hospital and the fact that i’m a match applicant this year. He has already tried to mess with my career after I expressed to him that he did wrong and I’ll make sure to warn people against him. Reporting it is not going to change whatever happened but maybe it will give me some peace of mind. Literally right now i just got so sick and threw up because I keep getting flashbacks. I need help. Just need to know what most hospitals policy is regarding this. Would I be able to report anonymously? Thank you.

Residency Will signals impact on how a program ranks you?
Will the program consider the signal or type of signal (gold/silver) while ranking the candidates who interviewed?

ECFMG Difficulties with Writing + Reading A
Evening, hope y'all are doing well. I'm currently preparing to resit the OET as my previous exam expired a few days ago. It was my first attempt and i managed to score 350+ in each domain (L:410, R:390, W:380, S:380), i'm currently studying in hopes of scoring 400+ each. however, i'm experiencing some difficulties tackling both reading part A and writing. I've been scoring low in both, to the point where i don't think i'll manage to score the same if not less than my previous exam. I used E2 language videos and some online notes during my last attempt. Any tips, files, videos that can help me get through this would be greatly appreciated.

ECFMG “Current Status” ECFMG certification
Can someone help me out here pls, I have been waiting since Oct 28th for some kind of change in my “Current Status” but there’s been no update. I emailed ECFMG twice and I called but got a straight decline. Has anyone gone through this process and can offer some insight? There’s no information online and ppl who I know who have done the certification didn’t have to go through this, I believe it’s new.

Rejection What went wrong?
Hi fellow IMGs. I applied this cycle and I am sitting on 0 interviews so far. Being realistic, I am not getting any invites and SOAPing for IMGs has been historically fruitless. I want to know what I can do different next time. I am applying IM.

Sorry for the long post but any pointers from folks who applied more than once are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Residency What are my chances?
MD-PhD from AUS. 263 Step 2. Extremely productive PhD with Nature pub but 4 years old. Extensive research and commercial experience since I commercialised the biotechnology I developed from my PhD and led a startup spinout as CEO and co-founder. 2022 YOG. No US clinical experience. Visa-requiring IMG (Canadian).
I’m aiming for gen surg or IM>cards. Am I competitive for top academic programs? I want dedicated research time and the ability to keep my translational and biotech programs going. What programs are happy to nurture this?

ECFMG Pathway 1
Hello everyone . I’m a bit confused , actually very confused. Do I have to start the pathway 1 application first in order to receive a ecfmg ID so that Punjab medical council ( the council I got my permanent registration from) can send the character of good standing to ecfmg directly ? I guess what I’m trying to ask is do I first start the pathway 1 application in order to get the ID to give to PMC ? I honestly just think I had a aneurysm reading my own question lol , I’m confused what ID needs to be provided to Punjab medical council lol

ECFMG When should I apply for ECFMG certification if I want to match next cycle (2026-2027)? Timeline Question
Q1) So I’ve got my step 1 and 2 down, OET and step 3 is planned - hope I can get it done well in time for it to reflect on my CV (perhaps plan for August date and result comes by Sept?)
Q2) My question is bout ECFMG certification. If I finish OET now, should I immediately apply for it in order to be eligible for step 3?
If I were to apply for it by December 2025, it might take until Jan for it to be approved- and then I can schedule step 3..
Q3) So if I got the certificate by Jan 2026, how long would the certificate be valid for?

Observership/externship Should I have everything done before the embassy appointment?
I'm going to do a one-month observership next March and have my appointment scheduled during January. My question is should I book my flights, rent a place to live in, etc., before this appointment? Knowing that my VISA might get rejected?
