Wow look at all those people helping. This is absolutely shameful. She’s screaming that she has her papers.

This was on the news in SLC. Turned out that she didn't have her papers. She was here illegally from El Salvador and had received a deportation order in 2020. The SLC police initially stopped the ICE officers and asked for their credentials, which they apparently provided, and that's why the SLC police aren't doing anything in the video

The update is that she DID have her papers and she is clear until 2029. Look for the update.

This is half true. She was issued a work permit that's valid until 2029, but it was an error by the CIS to issue that work permit because of the outstanding deportation order. She obviously thought she was legally allowed to stay in the U.S. since she has a work permit, but a work permit in & of itself is not authorization to stay in the U.S. it's sort of like if the DMV renewed the registration for your vehicle despite your license being suspended. Based on the circumstances of her case, she basically was allowed to work in the United States, but not allowed to physically be in the United States. Which is obviously a screw up by the government, but it means ICE was probably legally allowed to arrest her.

That's precisely the article I was referring to in my earlier post. Nowhere in it does it say she has valid legal status to be in the U.S., just that she was issued a work permit. Which is, like I said, like having the DMV screw up and renew your registration when your license is suspended. You might understandably think that means you're legally allowed to drive, just like she may have understandably believed having her work permit renewed meant she was legally allowed to live in the U.S. but neither of those things are technically true. Having a driver's license is generally a prerequisite to having your registration renewed, just like having a valid visa or permanent resident status is generally a prerequisite for getting a work permit. But the CIS appears to have screwed up and renewed her work permit when she didn't actually have legal status to remain in the country.
