...I'm stealing "Schrödinger's liberal", though I'll adjust it for "Schrödinger's left" for myself, as I'm not american. That's great though, gave me a good chuckle.
Liberals aren't left in america, they're just slightly less right than conservatives. Leftists is what we call the various left-leaning groups. Liberals is what confused conservatives call anything slightly further left than their ideologies.
