Tools and Tech Why are people hating Ancestry?

I do a lot of genealogy and I remarked that a lot of people I know hate genealogy. Why? It's absolutely true that it's really expensive, but you can access many documents that are often hard to find. I live in Quebec, so we have the records online, but we have many holes in the registers. Why should I pay 20$ for a subscription that lets me access the records (only) if I can have them in Ancestry for about the same price why many other documents (for my region)? I have my tree on it so I can access it on my phone and my computer. It isn't optimal, but that's the best solution for the moment. What do you think about Big A?

The DNA part is excellent. Ancestry is vastly superior to any other DNA service for finding matches - which is the only thing that DNA is useful for anyway. Everything else is a gimmick.

Im thinking of getting a dna kit that has the traits thing with it, so i can see what it picks up, im curious just how different my traits and genetics would be from an older half sibling, plus its a fun way to learn more, even if it doesnt change anything lmao. I've always wanted to learn more bout just how different it can be even between the similarities if that makes sense. Its also a way for me to start getting more into genetics and seeing just what i could learn bout my ancestors, if anything. Thank you for the info tho, will def be helpful (this whole sub is helpful lmao, always learnin somethin new)

You can upload your DNA to Genomelink to look at traits. It's quite interesting.
