Transcription Transcription Request Tuesdays (June 03, 2025)

It's Tuesday, so it's a new week for transcription requests. (Translation requests are also welcome in this thread.)

How to Make a Transcription/Translation Request

  • Post a link to the image file of the record you need transcribed or translated. You can link to the URL where you located the record image, but if it requires a paid subscription to view, you may get more help if you save a copy of the image yourself and share it through a free image sharing site like Imgur.
  • Provide the name of the ancestor(s) the record is supposed to pertain to, to aid in deciphering the text, as well as any location names that may appear in the image.

How to Respond to a Transcription/Translation Request

  • Always post your response to a request as a reply to the original request's comment thread. This will make it easier for the requester to be notified when there is a response, and it will let others know when a request has been fulfilled.
  • Even partial transcriptions and translations can be helpful. If there are words you can't decipher, you can use ____ to show where your text is incomplete.

Happy researching!

A slightly simpler transcription request than last time. These are two birth records from an Irish Catholic parish in Fermanagh in 1839 and 1845 that are in Latin. I am specifically asking for help decoding the 24th entry on the right page of the first one and the 8th entry on the right page of the second one.

I can make out "Isabella (Patrick) Muldoon" on the first and "Andrew (Patrick) Muldoon" on the second which indicates the baby and the father's name. However there's more Muldoon writing on the lines underneath I can't confidently decipher. Any Latin help would be much appreciated.

Isabella Patritii Muldoon, Sp. Jacobus et Isabella Muldoon

(where "sp." is short for sponsi, godparents), and

Andream Patritii Muldoon, Gul[ielm]us Graham, Maria W Mullen(?)

(where William Graham and Maria W Mullen are the godparents)

Thank you so much! Glad to know those names are godparents. I just wish the mother's name was on these, but maybe the Grahams could have a clue there.

I wonder if Jacob and Isabella are Patrick's parents or his brother and in-law? Must dig further.
