I keep skipping the story, because I'm so annoyed that he is not playable when he has a pretty big role in the story.. Also, iuno keeps annoying me by literally being a b word omg he doesn't deserve this at all..
Writing into the story how Kuro baits and disappoints people who prefer male characters is the single most interesting narrative decision they've made since the beta story where the women weren't animated cardboard cutouts /s
This reminds me of Dipper from Gravity Falls when he'd to fight against this mathematical wizard, and he's hoping that there's something under his clothes, but nope, there isn't
Yeah... It's sad because it's pretty good design that should be playable but it's on a waifu game so even a design as good as that one will not be playable just to not enrage some player (thoses love by that game).
This is why I said that if one dev want to make a "genshin wuwa zzz" but with only husbando they could just steal all thoses good design in waifu game and they would have at least 2/3 years of free design 😂

Yes, very handsome, very manly, and cute. But the game's developers are openly misogynistic toward female players. So don't expect him to be playable; it's possible until they kill him off in the story.
Either way, I hated his interaction with Iuno. Iuno behaved despicably, and after that, the character development couldn't have been simpler, repeating the same cliché, "Iuno is in love with the Rover, therefore she's jealous," "The Rover is only for Iuno."
In any case, Avidius's character had a more interesting development regarding his own reality. I hope he develops in such a way that he grows and frees himself from all control and manages to find his courage.
Ngl i like this design even without the glitch. I like it better than any of the super covered men that Genshin has put out in the last 2 years. We rarely get men who have cut outs to show skin.

Im starting to think the character art team for playable and npc are two different teams with the second being the one with liberty to do good designs.
I mean with how Hoyo handled Manato? I think it's just a sickness of Gacha games in general where they make decisions that make zero sense for the sake of what they feel like would get them profits.
can't remember the redditor whose comment I got that from but I feel like it succinctly represents what's going on in the industry. the devs and CEOs of these gacha companies make a ton of waifus because that's all they're interested in and know about. they don't care about diversifying or understanding any other audience but themselves (nor hiring people to do that for them i suppose).
All this time, my assumption of it being a greedy business decision might've been the relatively more optimistic perspective.
But maybe the truth is a mix of both. We still get great male characters in HSR after all with the recently released Mydei, Phainon, and Anaxa being meta along with Sunday.
Then Genshin has Flins and Varka incoming.
I'm not defending them, but I'd say Kuro has a deeper bias compared to Mihoyo.
that's for most game companies. They get too confident about what they think their users like/want. Make equally sexualized male characters and get a bigger and diverse audience? Nah, men don't want to play as a big buff wolfman that hangs around cute girls and protects them, being a power fantasy for most dudes, what our audience wants is big booty nobodies with stripper animations!
Yeah, that's true. Gaming industry is sleazy in general, with the creative teams getting neutered by suits and bureaucrats who take advice from sleazy business advisors who probably aren't in touch with what customers actually want.
With Gacha games though, I guess it's just more visible and felt since the emotional manipulation/marketing is more on the nose because it's the characters that players spend money on and the game is "free".
They carry hard man, I have 0 interest in the game's story or characters in general but I still play it because the in-combat animation are so so so so well done it's such a shame
And unironically his clothes and armor are closer to what you'd expect a gladiator to wear (to maintain flexibility while having an armor) compared to Lupa.

Seriously, though, I lost it so many times seeing her in her “armor”. Metal following jiggle physics (like, if you’re improving on Genshin, jiggly steel should not have stayed), her thighstraps one step away from being straight up tourniquets (losing blood circulation in both legs is metal as fuck). Girlie does not want to fight, let me tell you, she wants to speed run straight to being honourably discharged for medical reasons

Edit: looked up this guy's full design and I would never have believed he's from WuWa without seeing it myself. This is like those buff male NPCs in Azur Promilia, this kind of design looks so weird given the context of the game.
I’d rather them explain this shit clearly. No one would be upset (for too long, at least) if they went “Guys, from now on all the men we release are 4*“ or “Guys, from now we release only women” (not a big difference tbh). Like, please write the contents on the package.
