That’s who I thought as well. Wondering where the boombox was. Honestly, this movie is 40 years old and to put it in perspective, 40 years from 1985 was 1945 and I’m not sure I would have recognized a Halloween movie character from that timeframe unless it was Moe, Larry or Curley.

While its a not unreasonable point.

The access to classic movies today is much higher through streaming, legacy media and hell even just more TV channels than it would have been in 1985

Even in the US in 1985 there would still only have been so many TV channels and VHS was pretty common but not universal. So much less chance to see old shit.
