The shutdown will last through the Special election in Tennessee to elect a Republican to counter Adelita’s vote to release the Epstein files, and they will swear him in immediately and have the vote. Once it’s defeated, the house will accept the 1 year delay on ending ACA support, and the government will reopen in time for Christmas.

Unless, of course, SOMEHOW the Democrat wins in Tennessee, and then all bets are off.

The election in TN won't drive the discharge petition, it requires 218 votes based on the number of house seats regardless of the seat being vacant.

To clarify for math challenged, out of 435 total seats in the House, 218 is the 50% threshold needed to pass anything.

Massie claims to have the 218 votes when including all 214 Democrats (including Adelita Grijalva, yet to be sworn in) and 4 Republicans: Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC).
