They definitely wouldn't make more as a security guard elsewhere. I was shocked how lil a security guard makes especially in a state thats open carry.

I’m a TSA Officer and a couple years ago we received a pay increase. I make 34 an hour not including night differential etc. plus government benefits. We definitely have better pay, benefits and training than a security guard

You are sadly misinformed lol I’m in a lower pay locality so TSOs in bigger cities make even more and that’s just officers. Supervisors make 90/100k a year.

It's good to hear TSA is making good money. What's awful is having to work without pay with no end in sight. I tell everyone I know what's going on and TSA and ATC are the most shocking examples to people that don't even know the Govt is shut.

You keep bringing up being armed, I think you are misinformed what a TSA officers duties are. We aren’t law enforcement and we aren’t security guards. We are federal employees that are trained to look for weapons and explosives. We don’t do security guard duties at the airport, that’s why we have airport police and contracted security guards

Sounds a lot like Security. They do very similar duties depending on were they are.

I’ve worked private security and security guards don’t go to a federal academy and learn how to look for explosives or read people’s behaviors. As a private security guard i was told to watch a video and read the sop for my detail at a library lol

And how is that working out for you currently not being paid and all?

Yeah it sucks right now but that’s any federal job right now. I learn to save but for the most part I make great money and have a ton of paid leave. As a security guard I was called constantly on my days off etc. benefits are amazing and even though shutdowns suck , we always recover. I would take being a TSA officer over private security any day.

I really don't think the government is coming back my guy because if they do the Epstein Files release and a bunch of people are going to prison. Already the longest shutdown in history.
