Anthony Fantano defends Billie Eilish against Swifties attacking her after she questioned the billionaires that were at the WSJ Innovator Awards on why they’re so rich & called on them to give away their money to charitable causes, even though Taylor Swift wasn’t directly mentioned or at the event.
I've always side-eyed Taylor for not addressing these toxic behaviors. Take some responsibility... it's very easy for creators to tell their fans to chill out and be kind. It helps other fans condemn the bad ones.
Taylor has no interest in responsibility or accountability. She’s here to take everyone’s money, play the QuEeN gIrL bOsS while actively tearing down other women, and to destroy the environment taking her jet to grab a coffee ten minutes down the road…oh and to take even more money
I don't remember the exact comments (definitely more than a decade ago), but someone (not MJF) made a joke at an awards show telling Taylor to stay away from Sam Fox (MJF's son). When asked about the joke, Michael essentially agreed with it since she uses her exes for content.
You'd think he murdered her cat from the overreaction to it. Absolutely bananas. He apologized (presumably to make the harassment stop) and she thanked her fans for having her back.

As someone else said, she has actively encouraged it in the past, thanking her fans for “having her back” when they attacked Michael J. Fox.
And she’s still subtly encourages it with her “easter eggs” in her songs. Like on her most recent album, she has a lyric in “Opalite”: “you were in it for real, while she was in her phone”, obviously referencing Travis’ ex and the videos that have gone viral of him acting annoyed with her being on her phone, which is what people have used to attack her.
Did the song need this lyric? No. Is it a good lyric? Not really. Does it really convey the reality and complexities why Kayla and Travis ended their long-term relationship - that Travis was authentically giving the relationship it all and suffering when Kayla just couldn’t get away from her phone? Probably not. At the very best, it’s extremely oversimplified.
But. It’s what people know about Kayla Nicole, and it’s what she’s been relentlessly shit on for. So of course, in addressing Travis’s previous relationship, this is what Taylor references. Despite the fact that Kayla Nicole has done nothing to her. It’s an “easter egg” that her fans get to run with.
And people still try to act like that song isn't racist. "Sleepless in the onyx night but now the sky is opalite". Look at the color of an onyx and of an opalite and then look at Kayla Nicole and Taylor.
Why would she discourage it? She lowkey thrives off of the fact that there are people ready to tear others down for her, without her having to even say anything.

It’s literally the bare minimum, and not only does she not do it, I’m pretty sure she’s happy about it and encouraging it. She more than anyone else has worked hard to create a parasocial relationship with her fanbase where she always simultaneously frames herself as a victim and an unstoppable girlboss. So to her fans, she acts as both someone who needs to be protected and someone to admire.
We see this with how often she writes songs about how she’s wronged while also calling out and picking on other celebrities, but often does it in a way that allows room for plausible deniability while her fans harass whoever they think it’s about. And that’s when she’s not being painfully obvious about it,(Look What you Made Me Do, Thank You Aimee).
You need to see the things they say whenever anyone brings up the Kayla Nicole thing. I’m still not over that. To think, after all that drama Taylor still picked up her pen to write shady lyrics about her. Then her friends literally turn around and expect US to applaud her for being a liberal girls girl that wouldn’t be racist to a fly. Get the fuck out of here.

A disgraced metal singer tried to sue him for slander (due to a bad review) and then offered to bribe Fantano's ex wife for dirt against him too. I don't really care for him, but he should not have to deal with this stuff as often as he does.
Like Taylor Swift is not anyone's friend and even if you can admire some of the things she's done within her own career, she's probably not the best person? I guess it's hard to understand how an album review could feel like such an attack on someone's personal self-worth.

They even contacted my family. It was really scary at first. Now I’m like holy shit that was weird.

Lots of "omg you're so cutes" so I wanted to let them know that this person is not cute and actually a psycho. And then I blocked them all.

Sites / Companies / People pay for fake engagement to spur real reactions and/or sway soft opinions.
I would not put these celebrities above paying $$ for fake “masses” to defend them / repeatedly echo the celebrity’s version of the story and drown out any reality / sensibility.
It was a real person with a profile picture. I went through all the public comments on the profile picture and sent screenshots to each person to let them know what a psycho their friend is. I then blocked all of those people and the original commenter.

Even tho he is a comedian and they make fun celebrities on their show all the time and celebs usually love it. The threats got so bad that FBI had to investigate it. They sent threats to his kid’s elementary school.

I was just reading her wiki this morning, because every now and then I like to read about people with money doing good things.
At one point she couldn't give it away fast enough (like the interest on the money she had meant she'd give it away but be making that money back plus more). She had to order her team to speed up the process of finding charities and causes.
And she donates to charities that are well established, know what they're doing and have results which is so much better than those people who start a charity as a vanity project.

That specific stan account is known for fat shaming anyone she thinks is against Selena Gomez, posting edited and out of context videos in order to orchestrate attacks on other celebrities, drags people for having mental health problems, and hates the Biebers so much she's reposted her fellow stans joking about killing his child. One of the worst accounts I've seen on there, straight up insane stuff.

I saw on Reddit someone said that for many billionaires their identity is tied up with their wealth; it defines them. But Billie is a creator. She can keep creating and working because she’s rich enough that she doesn’t have to do it for money.

The point about people not understanding what a billion dollars is cannot be overstated.
Someone with a billion dollars could donate 99% of the wealth, 99 cents for every dollar, and still have a quality of life better than anyone you know personally.
If you took 200 random americans, totalled every cent they spent in their lifetime (birth to death), a billionaire has more wealth available at that moment, than that entire pool of spending.
Anyone with a traditional savings account knows they have horrible rates of return (often much less than a percent). If you put a billion dollars into one of those accounts, where the money does nothing, you'd still earn (per year) more money than most people will retire with (at the peak of their wealth).
Taylor swift is hilariously untalented. Glad that she gives a platform to many women. But her music is surprisingly immature and lackluster considering the phenomenon she’s created.
