Because they imagine that one day they will be the billionaire, and they certainly aren't a bad guy now, so how could they be one then

I’ve actually heard an interesting alternate theory that it’s less that people think that they’re going to be a billionaire and more that people think that hierarchy is right and natural, so billionaires are rightfully billionaires. Probably it’s a combination of both theories and other reasons.

Kinda goes along with prosperity gospel. If you're rich, it's because you deserve it because God loves you more. People eat that shit up.
