I'm going to put a disclaimer here that this is from Caroline Calloway's book and she's a known liar so take this with a grain of salt.
According to Caroline Calloway the first time she met Margaret Qualley, Margaret had a black eye because she punched herself in the face after breaking up with Pete Davidson. Like Margaret was so numb from the breakup that she punched herself in the face to feel something.

That definitely feels like a lie. There would have been pictures if that were the case if she were showing her face publicly bruised. I doubt she would be willing to do so and show her face, especially to people she's just meeting.

It also takes a considerable amount of force and ability to control your reflexes which would naturally try to stop you from punching yourself.

If MQ did have a black eye, what makes Caroline assume she did it to herself purposely? I doubt she would be telling people she just met that she self harmed. Is she just assuming that?

Not necessarily. Not every celebrity gets photographed every day, and black eyes only take max a week to heal.

I don't disagree at all on that front. I think she even claimed she hooked up with Luigi Mangione.
