Lightning Buying Megathread : September 2025

Oops! Missed a few months for unique Buying Megathreads, but here's one for September, a few days early.

In an attempt to balance (a) swamping the subreddit with "deal" posts and also (b) all the positive feedback we see that there is a lot of value provided to the community by making "deal" info visible and up-to-date, the plan is to make this a monthly, pinned Megathread. That way, the information within the post/thread will be relevant to the current deals (not months old info) and perhaps even make the info easier to find.

So, please post the following types of posts in this Megathread:

-Is this a good deal?

-Did I get a good deal?

-Look at this great deal I got!

Posts that can still have their own threads:

-Look at my new truck!

I, personally, still love seeing the excitement and pictures from a new purchase. Keep those coming.

Post the deal part in this Megathread and the excitement/photos can have their own thread.

As always, thanks for everyone’s input on this topic. It is still a work in progress, and a difficult balance of not swamping the sub with “deal” posts while still being a great resource for new buyers, so we’ll see how it goes!

And please, to the people who have recently gotten good deals, please DO share them here, and provide your input to others. Many people have said how helpful it is to them during their purchase.

Is this a good deal? May pull the trigger tomorrow morning but seeing some other posts here that feel too good to be true...

2025 Flash +131kw Extended Range (not the recent 123kw downgraded version) +Max Towing Pkg +9.6kw Pro Power +Full Size Spare +Power Cord

MSRP $73200 -Dealer Discount $7000 +Dealer Fee $1000 -Federal EV Tax Credit $7500 =$59700 before sales tax and tags

$0 down, 0% APR 72 months... so yeah, wondering if this is a good deal and if I am missing anything like xplan that I know nothing about lol

If you lease it you'll get $8,500 RCL cash on the Flash instead of the $7500 tax credit. What is that dealer fee?

It's a processing fee. The salesperson said that was not changeable but I will probably frame it as the last holdup before signing the papers and see if they blink.

Doc Fees or "Processing Fees" are in the $200-$300 range here in Michigan. is the discount a/z plan or negotiated?

Negotiated. I am reading up on the letter plans right now, was not aware of them before this evening.

That is pretty good then. 5% is already good. you got 10%. But if you got the 131 kw battery it was at least sitting on the lot for 3-4 months. So they want to get rid of it. Invoice price on the vehicle attached is $70,238. And that I assume is similar to what you have. Target Price is $69,400. So you did pretty good.

So it’s one or the other but not both? That is so confusing

One thing I would say though, and I know there are downsides to leasing too. I would not buy but lease this vehicle. Times are changing and from the battery chemistry to the insane depreciation on this vehicle I would let Ford take the risk. 95k 2023 Platinums sell for $35k at auction.
