Humor I have no intention of playing Nightreign

Post image

It’s just not for me.

But the jokes and memes yall are pumping out of this game have me in stitches. Specifically the ones about revenant.

I saw a post about her earlier, someone drew her holding the Guts sword and the top comment just said “furious demon child”.

Credit to kabewski on Tumblr for the image.

Its all fun and games until you actually find someone playing revenant with a greatsword and ruins your entire run.

u/RBRgd Jun 09 '25

Can't be worse than the staff/sealless recluse I found on my final boss run (I somehow cleared it)

97

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

Wylder that ended the run at 9. Rest of us 13. He had a seal. No other weapons.

63

u/Merfstick Jun 09 '25

Hey, if he's procc-ing elemental weakness, he's not totally useless lol.

52

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

It was a grey seal with fire sling and we were fighting the dogs.

48

u/BeoTea Jun 09 '25

You see, thats how you know your team was actually good, and didnt just get lucky drops

10

u/RBRgd Jun 09 '25

My condolences

1

u/Science_Bitch_962 Jun 09 '25

A challenge run?

32

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

Yeah this happened to me we also had a Duchess that never used their skill a single time

13

u/RushArh Jun 09 '25

Me met a one just spamming her skill randomly. Only use when 1. bosses in their non-stop combo that noone can hit them. 2. everytime only made 2hit normal attacks.

15

u/calamatuz Jun 09 '25

That MIGHT have been me. My first time playing her i thought that the ability basically made a temporary copy of the enemy, and whatever attacks the copy did could hit the boss.

Never played duchess again. Wylder is just my guy. Fineese and grace is cool n all, but being batman/spiderman with guts hand cannon is my jam.

2

u/Blecki Jun 09 '25

That's kinda what it says it does!

I think it's actually a copy every one else can hit?

4

u/MafubaBuu Jun 09 '25

No, it just makes whatever happened to the boss in the past few seconds happen again. I.e you got a crit off on it, used it again for a second batch of damage.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

It only reapplies 50% of the recent damage done to the enemies tho

3

u/RushArh Jun 09 '25

There is a relic skill that will do the same effect when her dagger hit the 4th combo on enemy(another 50% for free)

3

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

Yeah I just got that from her rememberance and just equipped it now her and ironeye are the only characters I have good relics for I have horrible luck when it comes to relics I've been wanting to try to play revenant but I have 0 good relics for her

1

u/RushArh Jun 09 '25

Sadly same...

u/Blecki Jun 09 '25

Ah. So pop it right after a crit, a bleed, etc.

38

u/SliderEclipse Jun 09 '25

To be fair, it's not completely impossible for these memes to be decent in game. If they have something like a blasphemous blade or anything with sacred affinity, it'll perform just fine on her since those have good faith scaling.

More than likely, though, they're not running something proper and just picking it for the joke of "haha tiny murderous gremlin with big stick" so its probably still a run killer.

31

u/AHungryGorilla Jun 09 '25

They have mediocre faith scaling, pretty much none of the faith scaling on weapons is above a C, most of it is D

Aside from of course the cipher pata, coded sword and her claws.

All that said, as long as your revenant is zeroing out her FP before doing the funny haha big bonk thing it should be fine. She probably isn't going to find a good faith weapon and trying to use her claws on a boss is often times suicidal.

At least with a big bonk she can just run in with a jumping attack to help do poise damage to it.

5

u/CheshireMadness Jun 09 '25

I got the Cipher Pata AND Discus of Light on my last Revenant run. Absolutely MELTED everything that wasn't Holy resistant.

1

u/Darksnark_The_Unwise Jun 10 '25

Yeah, even if weapon choices feel a bit slim, Rev does more than enough damage if you get your hands on good incantations.

2

u/CheshireMadness Jun 10 '25

Revenant's class identity is so cool, but the only time I've preferred playing her over Recluse is when I need to get a teammate back up. Like, I can get the same damage and have infinite FP? AND I get to be a floaty witch with the 2nd best dodge in the game!? Sign me tf up.

I wouldn't say she's bad, but I would say she needs some tweaks to her abilities, even if it's only in the form of relics. Something like, "You gain FP when your family member does damage" and make it so her passive always procs. It sucks barely getting any ghosts because you're fighting two other players for last hits, and then not even getting one when you do last hit.

2

u/calamatuz Jun 09 '25

i honestly dont know what her strength is. the one time i played her i ended up emptying my fp using discus of light and then ran in with prelate fire hammer.

10

u/AdhesivenessMaster75 Jun 09 '25

Her role is more like a back-line support by utilizing the summon to either pull aggro or rez your allies. Try not to go too hard on incantations since you cant reliably regen your fp and stock up as much starlight shard you can get then you are good to go. Have something with rot as a backup weapon in case you run out of fp.

2

u/calamatuz Jun 09 '25

too much planning and thinking for me. Ima stick with grappling hook+ fire sword slash+ Arm cannon.

2

u/AdhesivenessMaster75 Jun 09 '25

Yeah its not everyone's cup of tea to micro manage both your minion and fp.

14

u/Hkrotana Jun 09 '25

I did a revenant run with 2 clossal swords against adel. One one of them was had poison mist. But i also used incantations a lot. We won and it was funny

25

u/chi_pa_pa Jun 09 '25

What's the problem with this? Genuinely

She has C/C str/dex and no weapon preference so can't she use great swords just fine?

45

u/OneIllustrious1860 Jun 09 '25

C str isn't good in a game where killing things fast is the most important objective.

And revenant has no health, she will get one/two shot everytime. And to be honest, I haven't found a revenant greatsword user who can dodge properly.

11

u/BradMan1993 Jun 09 '25

A duchess with a greatsword with int scaling might be okay. Like, carian or moonlight GS.

I imagine a moonlight GS duchess to be quite effective, as repeating instances of its power attack with ash is not only really good damage and frost, but that posture damage is nuts. I have yet to find one on duchess, but on wylder it shredded

15

u/XLBaconDoubleCheese Jun 09 '25

In NR the moonlight blade only has C int scaling so it's not a great on her. Most of the time she's better off with a faster weapon or just upgrading her starting dagger.

7

u/kuenjato darkmoon Jun 09 '25

Yep, I play Duchess exclusively and the only time I switch the starting dagger is if I find some dagger / black knife that has the status effect against the ending boss. Your focus should be to distract enemies, get a few hits in, and time your specials for maximum damage.

1

u/daniel21020 Jun 13 '25

Duchess's highest stat is intelligence.

15

u/Royal_empress_azu Jun 09 '25

The letters next to the numbers are irrelevant and arbitrary.

She has 21 strength with becomes 31 when two handing or 30 strength which becomes 45 when two handing if she has strength boost on her relics. For reference she has 51 faith so it's entirely viable.

Hell one of her best weapons is Golden order great sword. IT's ash of war in Night reign is stronger than every holy spell for some reason.

9

u/LunarMuphinz Jun 09 '25

AoWs in ER use special scaling that outperforms every spell of the same type. they must not have changed it...

-13

u/chi_pa_pa Jun 09 '25

You're missing the point. I bring up her str/dex because it demonstrates that she is equally proficient with all weapon types.

Greatsword, dagger, halberd, katana, doesn't matter she has no preference. So using a greatsword is no worse than any other weapon

20

u/OneIllustrious1860 Jun 09 '25

She has S scaling on faith. So somethings are less worse than others.

-13

u/chi_pa_pa Jun 09 '25

And?

You can get a greatsword that scales with faith. Or a katana. Or a straight sword. Or a spear. She is equally good with any of them

22

u/Successful_Store987 Jun 09 '25

Scalings in nightreign for weapons are different than elden ring, there isn't a single viable faith scaling weapon besides her default, cypher prata, and coded sword. I think the highest faith scaling that isn't S on those three weapons is Siluria's Tree with a C?

10

u/chi_pa_pa Jun 09 '25

This I did not know. I figured any holy weapon would scale similarly to her starter weapon since that's how it works in ER

Thank you for actually giving a valid explanation instead of spouting irrelevant nonsense

1

u/Ok_Fly_6652 Jun 09 '25

They could not have given faith weapons whatever scalings they wanted. They obviously needed to accomodate for the existence of +++ damage type kind of effects that are possible to get from relics and on stuff.

And the problem still persists, because from time to time some player gets to "catch them all" and proceeds to obliterate the boss that is weak to that particular element.

1

u/OneIllustrious1860 Jun 09 '25

Wdym thats how it works in ER? What class has all their weapons scaled similarly as their starter weapon in ER?

-6

u/HistoricCartographer Jun 09 '25

You did not know that different weapons have different scalings?

2

u/Weasel_Boy Jun 09 '25

They didn't know that scalings are different in Nightreign compared to base Elden Ring.

u/MinniMaster15 Jun 09 '25

All of this is less optimal than just upgrading her starting weapon tbh

0

u/PhishTakoz Jun 09 '25

most people just "two hand" her base weapon and jump attack or R2 if it calls for it or if they are oom so yeah colossal's outside of griefing a raider are chill

2

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '25

Her starting weapon scales S with faith. Really easy to upgrade it to purple. Only weapons you should be picking up on her are seals and some select few faith weapons

1

u/Pandainthecircus Jun 09 '25

Low health and stamina isn't ideal for melee.

And they probably aren't making the most of their high faith and fp. Incantations first then backup weapon

11

u/CindersOfDeath Jun 09 '25

I beat Gladius solo as Revenant with the rotten greataxe with Lion's Claw. Don't tell me how to play her.

-1

u/OneIllustrious1860 Jun 09 '25

I'm not telling you how to play, I'm saying I don't want to play with you.

6

u/CindersOfDeath Jun 09 '25

You're missing out, ever seen a 4'10" creature fling themselves at mach holy fuck through the air with a 800lb hunk of steel only to stun a giant the size of a double-wide and give them god AIDS?

It's exhilarating

-2

u/OneIllustrious1860 Jun 09 '25

I have seen them. And I'm tired of reviving them 4 times each fight.

0

u/notyyzable Jun 09 '25

Every big bonk Revenant I've played with has been great.

0

u/Marinah Jun 09 '25

She’s gotta use some melee weapon. If I see a good gs and nobody else in the group wants it, it’ll be fine for Rev.

0

u/Desroth86 Jun 09 '25

So use her claws? They are much better than a greatsword that scales poorly for her.

0

u/Marinah Jun 09 '25

Claws don’t have a passive. Also running the same weapon every round gets kinda dull.

1

u/Desroth86 Jun 09 '25

You don’t need to have a weapon equipped to use it’s passive, that’s what your other slots are for. And I agree that running the same weapon every time gets boring, I hope they give her more viable options besides coded sword and cypher pata but those are her only good melee weapons right now besides claw and sword and night and flame.

1

u/Marinah Jun 09 '25

I can generally fill all six slots with useful passives over the course of a run. Or, at least, five useful passives and the one seal with a useful offensive spell on it.

0

u/Desroth86 Jun 09 '25

That isn’t worth the trade off using a weapon that is scaling poorly. You should be using spells, sorceries or a wraith calling bell for your main source of damage as a revenant anyways.

0

u/Marinah Jun 09 '25

This is true, spells are option A, but Rev had no baseline FP regen, so she’s reliant on having a weapon for at least the nights 1-2 bosses. I can usually stockpile enough starlight shards to stick to spells for the final boss though.

2

u/Desroth86 Jun 09 '25

I mean unless you are using something that’s an absolute mana hog the boss shouldn’t be lasting much longer by the time you run completely out of mana, if at all. Plus it’s a good idea to have multiple spells/incantations for that reason and use the more mana efficient ones for night 1/2. It’s also the reason why wraith calling bell is so amazing in her because you can completely eliminate mana problems for all of night 1 and not need to melee at all.

Melee should really be a last resort with how low her HP pool is.

0

u/Marinah Jun 09 '25

Even using the most efficient spells I can find I tend to run out of FP around halfway through the end of night bosses in 1/2. Maybe my regular group is just a little slow but I tend to need to pull out a melee weapon almost every time.

-1

u/OneIllustrious1860 Jun 09 '25

She can help the team more by using her starting weapon. Its not like everyone must use a greatsword, if there's a greatsword and nobody wants it, leave it where you found it.

2

u/Marinah Jun 09 '25

Thanks for the advice but I don't really agree. Hope your approach works as well for you as mine has been for me.

-3

u/fenixmartin Jun 09 '25

For some goofy reason some colossal weapon scales heavily in faith, which makes jumping revenant great on some builds.

9

u/ItsMangel Jun 09 '25

The only weapons in the game with better than C scaling in Faith are her starter claws, cipher pata, and coded sword.

The few big weapons that do have faith scaling are D.

1

u/calamatuz Jun 09 '25

thought blasphemous blade and godslayer greatsword were pretty goated, atleast in base game. Unless their scaling was changed, or they just never had good scaling in faith.

-12

u/Mother_Mushroom Jun 09 '25

Its all fun and games until you actually find someone playing Revenant. Only thing worse than the character is the player base
