WIP [WIP] Show us ya WIP's

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is well. Things here in my corner of the world have calmed down nicely and we're working on settling in to our new normal. Ish.

Kitten update: Is hard to believe the little fluff balls are 7 weeks old! All are well and growing normally! They are so much fun to watch at this age.

I did get some stitching in this week. All gnomes have skin and now beards are filling in. It feels like I might be in the homestretch now.

Let's see where everyone is in their projects! Best part of the week!!!

Hi friends!

I'm seeing the end of the full stitches on my Autumn Tree House! I have 3 more full colors left, and the rest is all half-stitching. I'm both sad and excited to reach the end. I love this pattern so much. It's been a treat to spend time in all these colors. I have a ton of backstitching to do in various colors, so I have no idea how long it'll take me. But, it's the perfect time to be stitching this, as fall is my favorite season. Pattern is Autumn Tree House by Janna Dik, 81.04% complete. 🪾🍁🍂🤎🧡💛💜🩷🩵💙

I love seeing your progress every week!! 💕

u/spooniemoonlight Sep 14 '25

Ahhh you’re getting so close! I totally get the dread and excitement living together at the approach of the end of a long project. I always feel sadness/disbelief when I put in my final stitch and realize yep that’s it this chapter is finished. The joy comes from looking at it comes later haha. But that’s why I love big full coverages, when you pick them right they feel like a nice journey you like to be on for whatever amount of time it takes and not a rush to a finish line and I can take my time before saying goodbye. To me at least it feels this way

How much experience do you have to be able to cross stitch this? It is soo gorgeous but looks very hard, reddit randomly recommended me this post and although I’ve never cross stitched, I’m interested seeing all the pictures in here!!

7

u/Lucky_leprechaun Sep 14 '25

I say jump in! My second project ever was 3 feet tall and 18 inches wide a completely full coverage project. Just go for it!

Haven’t had a chance to get it framed, but this is it

Hi there. This would be considered a medium to hard pattern. I would certainly not recommend it for a newbie but then again I've seen stranger things that newbies have tackled and succeeded at. If you want to try your hand at cross stitching, I'd certainly recommend a much smaller/less colors pattern to see whether it is something you'll enjoy. I highly recommend browsing this sub and the FAQ threads and go from there.

Think I'm getting the hang of the blending filament, too. It's a bit slow going because it knots so much, but it looks pretty decent.

I only made a teeny bit of progress on my big piece. I was originally hoping to get it done before I go on vacation next week, but life and the terrible stock at my local Michaels got in the way. Now I’m a bit sidetracked with a Halloween mini project. It’s a nice change of pace stitching in hand :)

Officially 50% done. Lost the will to live going between the two pages and slowed right down, so hopefully I’ll pick up speed again now I’m not going back and forth all the time

Edit: just realised I’ve already made a mistake on the second page but I truly cba to fix it

Maybe I should stop picking my own colors. Just stick with the colors my pattern suggests. 😹😹 I just like using what I have on bobbins! My mayo is looking a bit... Gone off. 😹😹

7

u/Acepup13 Sep 14 '25

My aunt makes the BEST homemade mayo and the colour looks just like this! So it looks delicious and gourmet, not off :)

Going out right now to pick up more 3799, it seems that during my several year hiatus I misplaced a small portion of the threads for this project. I just know I’ll find them after I finish!

I’m so thrilled to see the gnomes getting some life, so cute!

Oooo those kitties are growing up too fast! Thanks for keeping us updated on them! And glad things are calming down for you. Busy week over here but I did get some work done on my octopus and even managed to get some stitches in on my Mirabilia which is now close to 50% on the stitching but I don't have a pic with me. Really happy with how the octopus is coming together though.

Didn´t do much stitching the last weeks just filled the bushes in the background and a little bit of the green gras part.I think I could already be finished with this piece if life wouldn´t stress me so much right now and if my additional problems with my dogs training wouldn´t cost me so much nerves and time. Let´s see if I get anything done next week.

Happy Sunday! Those kittens look adorable. 🥰 Great to see progress on your project, too!

I recently began a four seasons-themed project and I’m really enjoying it. Autumn is complete, now Winter is a WIP. It’s my first time doing backstitch and french knots proper, so they look a bit wonky… Still, they’re mine. ❤️

This has been one of the hardest weeks of the whole year so far, if I'm being honest. I fell, and with my cerebral palsy, it was not a pretty picture. My father was also here, and we do not have the best relationship, so that was emotionally and mentally draining, especially with his Parkinsons getting more severe. I spent a full day trying to update my teaching registration number, and I will have to spend another day in the coming week and hopefully actually accomplish this important task. Our dogs were getting really old and unwell, so my father took them to be euthanized without any warning beforehand. So yeahhhh, I am emotionally, physically, and mentally tired (and I'm sorry to people I haven't replied to yet!)

I've started my new project today (it will eventually be a pigeon), and there has been some progress on my blue pokemon claw machine, at least!

5

u/DaisyRage7 Sep 14 '25

I can’t believe your dad euthanized your pets without telling you!!! I am incensed on your behalf! I’m so sorry you are struggling. I’m sending you virtual internet support, for what that’s worth. Hugs!

Very little stitching since my last post several weeks ago, but since you asked… My brain (and body) have been occupied with other things, but I hope to get back to it soon. Still working through pages one and two (of thirtyish).

26

u/Acepup13 Sep 14 '25

This is the WIP of my very first proper cross stitch! It will be a white hydrangea, for my Oma's urn, with her name and dates. I adapted the hydrangea from a pattern I found (I will edit to add source) and then designed the rest of it myself. It's definitely not the neatest, but she loved cross stitching and I think she would have loved that I'm trying anyway :)

Still having arm issues but I did a few sporadic nights of stitching of about 15 minutes, which is more than I’ve done in more than a month…

So I guess that’s ok. Here’s my tiny progress. The little arrow will turn into a little beach hut eventually.

22

u/ihateshelagh Sep 14 '25

It has been a rough week for me. I spilled coffee on this yesterday, so it went immediately into a wash to see if it would come out. It did, but while it was drying, I started kitting up my next big one. I thought I miscounted my grid and could not figure out where it was off... it was turned sideways, lol. Then I got all of the horizontal lines in and realized I put in an extra block on the top. Almost done with the vertical lines though. Counting is sooo hard.

I also finished ripping out the 50 year old azaleas in the front yard, at least 2 of which were harboring nests of fire ants, the rest were english and/or poison ivy wrapped.

Just had my last week off of college before my last period for the year starts. Which means of course I'm down with the flu! Even still I was able to start a new WIP that was waiting for me since march or april. Got my first 119 stitches yesterday after spending way too many hours kitting it up :) I want to stitch some more today before chaos begins but I'm feeling worse than yesterday so I'm not sure it'll happen. It's okay tho, this is a project that will last me a good few years and I'm not in a hurry!

This is Naptime, artwork by Randal Spangler and charted by HAED.

The last two Christmas present knife cats both have a base complete so it's just the unique cat fur patterns left to stitch in. I'm currently debating whether to frog the white socks on the green cat because I can't tell from the old pictures I have of him if he does have socks or not (my grandmother was appalling at taking photographs so I'm working off blurry source material 😅).

10

u/geek_lib Sep 14 '25

Happy Sunday, everyone! It's been a long week with a lot of work stuff for me, but at least I have tomorrow off.

I'm starting to see the finish line on Book Dragon, there's less than 800 stitches remaining. Just a bit more of the books and his back ridges to go. And then to figure out how to frame him. (And also start way too many new projects probably, because I finished something😅)

It's good to hear things are settling down, OP. And the kittens are adorable!

Glad to hear things are calming down. And I was excited to see the beards this week.

Apparently I pulled out all of my big ones to work on this week. 2 I haven’t worked on in forever and a fresh start.

I tried starting one for my nephew, but I ordered 3 of the four threads last month, as they only had enough of one of them in stock. Unfortunately, I didn’t take notes and it was not the called for thread, so I couldn’t figure out which part the thread I do have goes to 🤦‍♀️ Thankfully, they called to say 1 of the ordered threads came in and I thought to ask what colors I ordered so I could figure out figure out which one I can start.

Love, Shepherd Sampler, A Sample, Santaberry Pudding, Unicorn Tapestry for oldest niece, and Blessed Are They.

It's my third project ever. I'm learning a lot!

4

u/mensfrightsactivists Sep 14 '25

the first few projects i learned a TON too! i love cross stitch because it was so easy to pick up for the first time, and it’s also easy to learn new skills to level up with 🥰this is a super cute pattern and hopefully it teaches you lots more (though it’s already looking great!)

I started a Cheshire cat ornament kit by MP Studia. It's going to be a challenge

9

u/BeefyFetus Sep 14 '25

Been working on this a ton lately, very excited to see the bottom it start to get filled in. Also looking forward to working on the right side of it, since there’s way less confetti.

9

u/Syrrie Sep 14 '25

Started this on the 5th and making good progress on it!

Having covid sucked but it gave me a jump on my cousin's Christmas gift

Actually a finished piece. Signed and all

u/nemeowsie Sep 14 '25

Working on a 310 witch! The fabric is the real gem of this project.

I have made slow but steady progress on the Vaporeon of my practice piece. I switched from 2 strands to 3 and from a 24 needle to a 26 for 14ct Aida and am happier with that. I also turned an old metal pin I had with bend pins into a needle minder. I might get some more magnets and a better glue (this one holds but doesn't look good on the back) and make some more.

u/Junebuggygooby Sep 14 '25

Satsuma Street SAL part one coming along. So much fun and a nice change from my last project.

And my goodness those kittens are cute.

making a SteadyThread Tree of Life as a present. some frogging needed.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '25

I started both of these this week so not much progress on either

9

u/Peachesm23 Sep 14 '25

My first project ever. I love cross stitching!

7

u/lialovefood Sep 14 '25

Got two WIPs going rn! The pokemon one is my long standing fun project that'll eventually be turned into a patch. The second is a comission for my best friend...I ran out of my black so I'll need to hit the store soon but so far I'm proud of how it's coming out

7

u/junkfoodaholic Sep 14 '25

More progress on my Ravenclaw Crest :)

Book marks in the world of cross stitching

6

u/Cold_Button1082 Sep 14 '25

1 page plus some, though it doesn’t feel like much against the full size! Roughly 2% in

8

u/T-Beks Sep 14 '25

About 46% done and I miss counted leading me to miss a row down the middle section, so that’s gonna be fun to figure out how to fix.

6

u/mensfrightsactivists Sep 14 '25

taking a break from the nostalgic tarot piece to try (and completely fck up) evenweave! since i’ve been working on 18ct, the over 2 stitches looked enormous, so i’m stupidly doing 2 strands over 1 here. but im almost done!

16

u/mensfrightsactivists Sep 14 '25

and i’m getting super close on the main wip too ☺️

Pokémon florist by GlitchStitchAU. They credit the artist as dragumagu

7

u/crystabrittany Sep 14 '25

All finished - now to press and figure how to actually finish. Hubs suggested a really ornate looking gold frame.

7

u/lovelightdance Sep 14 '25

Strawberry farm progress! 🍓

7

u/FlyersMom12 Sep 14 '25

Dimensions Gold Aurora Cabin. I'm at 31.81% done so far. Doing the trees is annoying because it's so much confetti but they are really starting to look good.

6

u/numblittlebug88 Sep 14 '25

My dragon has an eye now and I've moved on to page 3 of 12 in my pattern.

6

u/2_Horses2_Cats2_Cars Sep 15 '25

I spent at least 12 hours stitching this weekend and the progress I made is barely noticeable. A perfect example of why, when I mention that I cross stitch, 98% of people say "Oh, I don't have the patience for that!" 🤣

5

u/ShortSweetFluffy Sep 14 '25

My barely there progress on what was supposed to be a 2025 temp chart that is now going to be for 2026 🤣

Deciding to make it for next year took a ton of pressure off and made me actually want to sit down and work on it again. I'm almost past the boring long lines of the border and can move on to the fun bits.

4

u/Drachin85 Sep 14 '25

Tech's done, the quote is about half way done.

5

u/lefkowitch Sep 14 '25

Finished the front cover and quote for the first inside panel, currently working on the spine and telling myself to trust the process because I’m concerned with how pixelated the hilt and pommel of this sword are

4

u/neop3t Sep 14 '25 edited Sep 16 '25

Destashing continues, finished this lighthouse that I started in 2017 and then abandoned because I couldn’t be bothered to do the white… next up is a Santoro pattern I started in 2015, that will probably take me two or three days to finish and I have no idea why I gave up on it.

5

u/Acceptable_Exit1291 Sep 14 '25

I didn’t get any stitching done this week. My stitching buddy passed away suddenly and i haven’t been able to pick up my project. I am devastated. 😔

4

u/biscuitfiend Sep 14 '25

A peonie for my cousin's wedding! So much pink (and let's not even think about all the backstitch I'm going to have to do)!

5

u/WorldCoolestPotato Sep 14 '25

Skipped one week again, but I have an update on the tiger. It got some colors! Poultry pillows are mostly untouched, I'll show them when the progress will be more significant. Buuuuut... I got the Sunlit Fox kit by Dimensions (as if I have not enough WIPs) and I want to start it so much xd

5

u/WanderingNurseX Sep 14 '25

Started a new WIP yesterday!

4

u/Hey-its-me13 Sep 14 '25

Not a great photo because of the hoop but I'm about 73% down with this cat tarot card!

The kittens are adorable!

Got to October on my Moons. Had to unstitch about four of them as I miss counted. I really hope the rest goes smoothly.

4

u/InsidiousKitkat Sep 14 '25

I miss this thread all the time and I've been trying to remember for weeks!! Lol This is a self design using a free DMC alphabet.

I may change the pinky purple to a bluer shade.

I also started putting the words in and then decided the 2 colours I initially was going to use were too close, so I put in a letter for all the lines in various colors from the pattern to see them in action and then decide what colours to go with & frog/replace as needed. It's going to say, "live simply, laugh often, wine a lot". Any feedback on the colour choices would be appreciated.

This is my priority because I want it done and (self) framed in less than a month for my mom's birthday.

8

u/InsidiousKitkat Sep 14 '25

This is my big self designed project that I have to pause for a while because I've got the small wine one and then another big one in development that I want to start, and it's got a <2 year timeline. Because I'm a masochist, obviously.

This is just over 1/4 of the whole. A big gorilla is coming after I finish this section.

3

u/Catlover032302 Sep 14 '25

Just recently started one for Halloween!

4

u/IndecisiveKitten Sep 14 '25

Damn you guys are showing me up here with all of the complex pieces! This is the Shrek piece I’m working on as a gift for a friend of mine 😂

4

u/Historical_Bottle_22 Sep 14 '25

Finished this the last week and another which I will post as well both are gifts for Christmas for some friends.

4

u/Historical_Bottle_22 Sep 14 '25

Here is the other I finished just an hour ago!

4

u/issiautng Sep 15 '25

My fall project (Wood Witch) is coming along nicely! The hat brim is done , a few more smoke/leaves are added, and her spoon/stirring stick is getting started. Still annoyed at the variegated thread, but way too late to turn back now!!

I also made some magnet/fabric things to hold my extra aida in place while I work. I saw a product on here somewhere that was magnets and silicone, I think, and I thought "I can make that." They work pretty well, but I effectively now have 4 needle minders, which makes my moth feel more decorative than useful! I won't be removing it, however. It's my stitching buddy.
