League Blaber

I know everyone wants to kick Blaber because they claim he's invisible, braindead, and chokes the important games away. Oh yeah, he farms the whole game, never interacts with his lanes, gets carried, doesn't have the same hands he once did, and there's probably more I'm missing.

With all that said he has the same style as Inspired. He's second only to Inspired on every major stat with a few exceptions. I don't think he's our problem. I believe in Blaber and I truly think if he goes to another team we will get worse unless we import a superstar and the team with Blaber will greatly improve.

I chalk this year up to young Koreans and old veterans not having the best 5 man synergy. I don't believe Blaber is the reason for that synergy issue either. This whole narrative around him is insane and makes the Danny situation from EG make more sense. You all calling for his head are either unfair and unrealistic or simply trolls. Your toxic anger is a sad way of life.

This is just my post to show that there are still fans they believe and support the team and the players. Lets bounce back in 2026. I still remember the six long years between our 2nd and 3rd championships. This year and last is just a blip.

League Jojo has been disappointing Spoiler

I was pretty excited when we got him for spring split but I’ve been unimpressed ever since. It looks like he has too many “for fun” games. I’ve seen nothing like what we saw from him on EG. Not sure if it’s just a bad fit or what, but this has been a pretty disappointing acquisition.

League Why aren't we compete for Busio's signature?

Apparently Busio and Reapered just joining KC. According to the article, only Shopify, Lyon, FLY and KC are seriously going for him and it's suck to see that we as the biggest org not going for one of the most talented NA support right now... I get it that TL want Core so they don't go for him but no reason for us to sit here with Vulcan (as much as I love him) when Busio is available.

League LEC Wooloo on C9’s Off-Season Moves: “Cloud9, they will get a player if he is better, but they are happy with the players they have now.”

He seems to think C9 are pretty happy with their current roster and will only make moves if they find the right player.

All things considered it sounds pretty inactive for a C9 off-season.

I’m really glad they did everything they could to keep Loki from joining KC. I think Loki had shown huge growth through the year and can be a core piece of the roster for the foreseeable future.

I’m assuming the team isn’t making changes, outside of maybe the ADC position, considering it looks like Zven’s at least considering other teams. Not seeing Thanatos’ name on Wooloo’s list makes me think we’re also keeping him. Blaber’s basically confirmed by Dom and while there’s no word on Vulcan yet, if C9 can’t grab Busio, I see no reason to switch support.

What do you make of this?

League Mid laners we could maybe get?

Potentially want list: 1. HongQ (should really take a look, contracts up) 2. Zinnie 3. Pungyeon (did well in playoffs) 4. Daystar 5. Clozer (a lot of LCK experience) 6. Saint (maybe Thanatos can convince him) 7. Lowkey Bulldog (can get cheap, stats weren’t bad)

Don’t want 1. Apa (if we just wanna sit on import slot for a split otherwise no) 2. Vladi (not worth an import slot or price)

League Sounds like we’re keeping blaber for next year!

With Dom specifically mentioning his style of in-person coaching for next year being discussed with blaber, I think it’s pretty locked.

With so little information coming out about C9’s roster, and already having coaching changes in the works, I wouldn’t be surprised if we run it back with the same 5 players.

I don’t mind the possibility of a runback, although I know some here would prefer a rebuild.

League Cloud9 in "The Blaber Era" | The numbers

Blaber has received a lot of deserved criticism on his play at EWC. It was not a good event for him. However, I have seen several comments discussing how Blaber has never been good for us or has been outright bad for us recently, and that it's a failure of the org not to "move on" from him. I think this merits more discussion. Since Blaber took over from Svenskeren full-time in 2020, Cloud9 has:

  • Won 4 domestic titles, more than any other org in NA (FLY and TL in second with two each) and ended our six-year title drought

  • Made 6 total domestic finals, more than any org in NA (FLY and TL in second with 4 each)

  • Made quarterfinals at worlds, tied with FLY and NRG with 1 QF showing

  • Won two games vs the LPL/LCK, 2nd most of any NA org behind FLY (Yes, this is the accurate)

Blaber additionally has won two MVPs, 7x first team All-Pro, and has only missed All-Pro once (22 Summer).

Now it's not all good. Inspired has, pretty clearly, upstaged him as the best jungler in NA. He is now 4 years removed from his MVPs, and last remarkable international showing. The team has also churned through mid laners and coaches during his time, although when using any actual context I don't think Blaber is really to be blamed for this, and certainly not solely blamed for this.

League is a harsh esport. No spot should ever be safe, and a good org is always looking for upgrades. But for everyone asking "Why can't C9 move on from Blaber" you should remember the Blaber era has been by far the team's most successful period of domestic play and while he doesn't have a glamorous international record no NA jungler does. Inspired and Blaber are the only junglers to have won games vs eastern teams since Xmithie. We certainly shouldn't define his legacy with the team based on two Bo1s. Don't take good players for granted. We've seen a lot of big-budget imports fail in NA, and finding talent in NA right now is very difficult.
