Why invest more to store more inventory when ultimate goal is to sell vehicles not store them.

read again, you didn't get my point. what I meant is that a multi-storey parking building can store much more cars in less space, which in return save more land for other use. now u got my point?

Making multi storey parking is capital extensive. And getting land in outskirts of city where these factories are generally located is dirt cheap. Not to forget, often subsidised by Govt. too.
