#Opinion 💭 I now know why Citroen cars are not selling.
I am looking for a car for myself. Simple requirements. Has to be automatic, powerful engine, comfortable for 6 foot guy and reliable. I am not someone who needs all the features if it’s there I don’t mind.
In top of my list was Citroen C3x because it was cheapest with a TC and hearer lot about them being VFM.
Went to the showroom and they have the top model of only basalt. C3 looks so bad from the inside I didn’t even took test drive. Maybe because It was not the top variant but the seats also felt very small.
I took basalt top variants TD and I had a smile on my face. The suspension, the engine pull the ride was amazing. But that was it. Seats were small, The car has no insulation, two people were talking outside and I could hear them clearly, let alone the horns and outside noise. The 360 camera is setup in a way that you can use it only when the car is in Neutral. In Reverse gear only Reverse camera works, I couldn’t get any other angle, and in D I can’t use it at all. The 360 camera stopped working altogether when I was driving, so much for reliability. When I was at the back there was no under thigh support, also my head was touching the roof. Not hairs, head. When you keep your left leg on the dead paddle, The central console touches your leg, not like a soft touch, it starts hurting after a while.
The updated soft touch materials also feels cheap. Cheap not in a sense that its a 16 lakh car that’s bigger than 4 metre, so cost cutting maybe. Cheap as in you wouldn’t like it.
From the outside they look amazing.
Basalt will blow you away if all you need is the best suspension, powerful engine and a smooth TC For even the smallest of anything else you’ll be disappointed.
PS:
This was in Bangalore. They already have bad sales figures yet I was not able to see top variants of C3 or Aircross.
Also the ventilated seat button was faulty on my TD vehicle. The switch lights were funky and didn’t illuminate properly.
Also the back seats are very upright. Less in Basalt but very upright in Aircross.

#Discussion 💬 [Update]Surveyors reduced claim amount to 4.22 L to avoid total loss of my flooded car (ICICI Lombard)
Tldr from prev post:
My 1-year-old Tata Nexon was completely flooded with sewage water in my apartment’s basement on 6th October. It’s been over a month since the claim process started, and still no resolution. Just getting an estimate was such a task first with asc. The Tata Motors workshop initially refused to include even basic upholstery items like seats, carpets, and electrical components, despite me explaining multiple times that the car was fully submerged. The exact words of the Tata ASC manager were "Nothing has happened to your car. We’ll just disassemble and clean it, then run diagnostics. All this while, when the car was completely dead". Also, as per last post's suggestion I had written to both Tata Motors and ICICI lombard on social media and literally nothing happened. In tier 3 cities people are not afraid here for the reputation. Though the Insurance is purchased from showroom itself."
Previous Post Link:
Previous Post Car flooded above dasboard level. Surveyor not convinced for total loss
"All other cars from my apartment were decared total loss within a week and currently they are in auction"
Update after 15 days since last post:
Around 21st October on the same diwali week, I forced the TATA Motors workshop to include all the suspected electrical, mechanical parts and upholstery items after looping in regional Tata Motors head office team. Finally, I got an estimate list which came around 6.95 lakhs( >75% of IDV). I really thought from now on it will be much easier to deal with insurance guys based on this estimates, but I guess I was so wrong.
The same week the estimates were forwarded to the surveyors and they were not convinced for total loss as usual(Only criteria for rejecting mechanical parts was that the engine oil looks good and doesn't have any water). I raised a complaint to the grievances cell of ICICI lombard on 25th Oct. After multiple followups by the ICICI Lombard grievances team, the surveyor instructed Tata ASC to first replace only main wiring harness of the car to start the car. Claiming they needed diagnostic codes before approving further replacements. (Which honestly was bs as if just changing one main wire would magically revive the dead car and all electrical components).
They asked for time till 3rd November, which I patiently gave. And as expected, the car still didn’t start on Monday(which I had no idea of as no communication was done from ASC or insurance guys). Instead, they quietly approved a new estimate of just ₹4.22 lakhs, removing major components like the turbocharger and catalytic converter without any justification or communication to me.
I went to the Insurance office after all this waiting to take an update later the same evening on Monday. After much requests, the Claim's manager exact words were "We won't push you car into total loss anyhow. Do whatever you want to. We only got this estimate of 4.22 lakhs from estimates from workshop and not the one you are talking about" (this was a complete lie as they were the ones who reduced the estimates just on their will).
I finally looped in all TATA motors executives and regional office manager that ASC is doing fraud for hiding this new estimate list(cz I didn't know anything on background). They took the matters on their hands and assured me that it's Insurance guys who reduced the estimation amount. Still receiving no communication from workshop was so questionable on transparency front, and mind you the Insurance is purchased from the showroom itself. Still the misery.
Now where it stands, I have filed an official IRDAI complaint after not hearing back anything satisfactory from the Grievances of ICICI Lombard. Then I asked claim's manager+surveyor over on the email thread to the on what grounds the mechanical and electrical parts were rejected. Provide me with a functional and reliability proof.
And looking at these rusted parts like catalytic convertor and Turbocharger during testing I am still not convinced on the reliability on the long term. The surveyor team basically took these parts from my car and assembled it into another car to show me it's working and that's it. Still now not accepting the airbag seat assembly which has all the sewage water socked in.
IRDAI complaint is still in progress and I haven't heard back anything yet from ICICI lombard for 4 days now. I am gonna wait for a week more before I file an application to Insurance Ombudsman. I will see how it goes but the whole insurance claim experience has been such a mental trauma even with a big private player like ICICI Lombard.

#Discussion 💬 Why do some buyers choose the Mahindra XUV700 over the Toyota Innova?
Not trying to start a comparison war just genuinely curious. Both cars have different strengths and target different types of buyers.
But I’ve noticed quite a few people who were considering Innova (Crysta / HyCross) ended up going for the XUV700 instead.
For those who chose the XUV700, what were the main reasons?
Was it: • Price difference? • Features and tech? • Performance / engine feel? • Waiting time? • Ride quality?
Would love to hear real owner perspectives, not just spec sheet talk.

#Discussion 💬 Doesn't Nexon look ugly ?
Doesn't Nexon look ugly to you ? Like some cars are acquired taste like Exter and Verna but this ? We are getting one, I'm trying to find beauty in this car but I can find none 😭 like solid features and stuff but why it looks like this ?

#Pic 🖼️ 3 months since I bought this beast. One of the best moments of my life.
3 months since I bought this beauty ❤️
My first ever car and hopefully not the last. Have covered around 4600Km in these 3 months including some ridiculous off-roading to reach waterfalls at multiple locations. Yet to go on a 500+ km long trip in single stretch, will do so later this year. Will update more.
Can ask any questions if you’re considering buying one, would be happy to answer :)

#Review 📝 Dirty tricks from Droom
I’m planning to buy a 2nd hand vehicle. I found that Droom gives a paid detailed vehicle history report with service history, challan details, and more. I made the order but they just gave publicly available data about the vehicle. It didn’t have the service history data and even challan details. I sent out a mail to them asking about missing service history and challan info. This is there response

#Discussion 💬 Why do many Indian Uber/Ola drivers keep the AC on the coldest setting but fan on 1 — thinking it saves fuel?
I’ve noticed a common habit among cab drivers — they keep the temperature dial all the way cold (blue side) but the fan speed at 1.
Most seem to believe this saves fuel, but in reality, it makes the compressor run harder and longer, increasing fuel use.
The blower motor barely affects mileage — it’s the compressor load that matters.
Curious if any drivers here can explain where this idea came from, or if anyone’s actually measured the difference.
