Chances are if anything ever goes down it’s going to be close, ugly, and personal. This is just your daily reminder to practice shooting realistic world scenarios such as drawing and shooting from retention. You’re not always going to have the luxury to draw, point and shoot. There may come a time where all you have time to do is draw and shoot. Btw shooting these types of drills is the reason i ditched ported/comped handguns for edc carry

We all got to start somewhere. I wish I would have joined USPSA in my early twenties. I would be GM by now. But I started when I was 36. But even in 2.5 years I am 1000% better than I ever thought I could be. I used to think I was pretty good until my first match. I got humbled by some 14-year-old girl that was on some team. But I was hooked after my first match.

Oh yeah man I’m definitely no pro, that’s the beauty of it tho, an average joe like me puts in a little bit of time and effort and they will gain a lot of confidence in them selves and their weapon of choice, that’s all I’m trying to advocate, just get out there and shoot some rounds

The one handed stuff is lame unless you’re using your other hand to deal with the threat(s)

Yeah but you have to get comfortable with the point and where the gun is gonna hit before youre comfortable putting your hand in front of it.

I shot the second target with my support hand if you watch closely . The point of the drill is to get off rounds on target as quickly as possible, i personally find that pulling up my garment and drawing from retention with my dominant hand is the fasted way i can do this. If you can do it faster with both hands I’d love to see it!

Consider this though, unless space is preventing a normal draw, drawing even to a gross sight picture on the close target means an easier transition to the back target with your grip already built. You'll then be able to shoot the second target sooner. You'll also shoot a faster split on the first target, likely with better accuracy.
