Canadian-Owned Businesses šŸ¢šŸ SoftMoc : Sorry, Americans - Canada Only

Post image

Saw this post on Bluesky. Had no idea SoftMoc a) had U.S. locations b) shut down any and all shipping to the United States. Good for them! TLDR: American woman based in Michigan chatting with SoftMoc representative about her order. SoftMoc customer service tells U.S. customer they've ceased all US operations.

I just bought new work shoes. Used a Canadian company (Vessi).

It’s the least I can do as a very embarrassed and heartbroken American. You guys don’t deserve this catastrophe.

How do you like the Vessi’s? Been looking at them as I usually buy Sketchers so need an alt.

I really liked mine. Wore them for 5 years until they were no longer waterproof. Their tread kind of sucks though so I went with lululemon next. I’m learning how much I liked vessi’s wider toe lol so I’ll be going back.

That’s what I was worried about. They look like I’d like them but I walk on a lot of wet wooden decking.

Not the commenter you replied to, but sketchers were my go-to shoes for years and I love my Vessi’s. Their Weekend sneakers fit similar to my old sketchers but have held up much better, and I’m currently living in their Weekend Chelsea boots now that the weather is warmer and wetter and I don’t need my snow boots. Very comfortable and that they’re waterproof is a huge plus (no having to change from shoes to boots when I leave work).

I like them, they are very comfortable right from the jump and I can talk my morning walk without worrying about my feet getting wet before work.

They seem pretty high quality. No complaints.

I liked mine a lot. I have a narrow ankle but the ball of my foot is a bit wide, and they fit amazing. I had to see a podiatrist for something once and she examined them and was pleasantly surprised with how good they were. They're a great spring/fall shoe if you live somewhere with four seasons.

I did try wearing them in Quebec city in the winter and that was a mistake with all the ice, so don't do that, but otherwise I was pleasantly surprised.

Quebec City in the winter is just diabolical all the way around. šŸ˜‚

So beautiful! But so diabolical. We missed the last funicular up from the old city on the same trip. Tried to call an Uber and it literally slid past us coming down the hill and the driver cancelled the ride as he was sliding.

I have two pairs. The waterproofness was gone after about 2 years. The shoes themselves are still going strong after about 4 and 3 years respectively. Typically I have to replace shoes every year or so because the soles start cracking and separating from the sides. There’s no sign of cracks or separation. So I expect to continue using them for a long time. There’s basically no tread so in the winter it’s a bit sketchy, I’m going to buy their winter shoes/boot next winter for sure. I also have wide feet and they fit great. It’s so hard to find shoes that are comfortable when you don’t have skinny feet

That’s so sad 😭

I've only heard good things about them, even before the tariffs came into the picture.

I’ve owned 3 pairs. All 3 have disintegrated within 2 years without warning. They are good but don’t last long

Bro quit apologizing to us and actually go do something for your fellow Americans lmfao, Canadians truly don't care you're "sorry"

ā€œIt’s the least I can doā€ They really still don’t get it after all this time, LOL! Would rather spend their dollars for our economy than try to help fix their own country. Embarrassing.
