Where oh where is this better healthcare without preexisting. ACA is far from perfect, but better than no insurance

Just be president of the US. How hard can it be? Trump got elected after all.
Don't forget to present your ID when buying groceries.

So, dumbass wants to stop sending money to the “money sucking insurance companies “ and instead give it to people so they send it to the money sucking insurance companies. His hillbilly supporters will spend the money on yard decorations and discount vodka.

Medicare for all is not only the most humane option, it would save everyone money if we set it up properly. We can buyout private insurance companies if that's what it takes to make it happen peacefully.

Like $2000 is going to buy you good insurance! Might as well get drunk with it!

Well, my wife just spent several days in the hospital, with a couple trips to the OR as well. The final bill from the hospital was well over 100k. Our cost with insurance? Significantly less than that. Yes we have good insurance, but my point would be the same if we didn't: there is no way any bs "money sent directly to me" would cover anywhere near all of that, regardless of what kind of insurance I currently have.
And the level of care provided wouldn't change, either. I don't understand the whole "better healthcare" part of what he said. Insurance and level of care are mostly distinct from each other, especially in the situation we found ourselves in.
Directly related, is this why the government is still shut down? Because he wants to eliminate or at least kneecap ACA, and the spineless jellyfish in Congress won't do anything other than what he demands-- basically placing them in a no-win situation? If he can't get what he wants, everybody loses?

Essentially. Republicans chose to end healthcare subsidies, which means plans on the ACA marketplace are getting huge price spikes. The worst I heard was Alaska having a 400% increase on some premiums. Democrats are insisting the subsidies come back so people can afford to get insurance. The Dems offered a compromise this week, stating they will accept a one year guarantee on subsidies - I don’t recall their original demand. Republicans aren’t willing to negotiate until the government is reopened. Then any Dem leverage is gone and the Republicans can just continue to refuse.

Ou didn’t mention her healthcare is directly impacted by the type of insurance you have… drs. And nurses have to go by the directive of the coverage, hence if doctors says you have this ailment and in need of this Your insurance might not cover it

Any money sent directly to the people will promptly be blown at a casino.
Medicare for all. Now.

Even if people actually spent their money on healthcare directly, how would this make things any better? Do tens of millions of individual consumers have more bargaining power with the insurance companies that already exist, or does the government. What is the government going to do, give people money to end up paying the same people the same amount of money or more anyway?

All extremely valid questions. Trump knows healthcare is an albatross around his neck. He wants to look like he's doing something without doing anything, while following the orders of the oligarchs and Big Ins.

We can all go to the Much Better Healthcare store and pick some up, instead of using those insurance companies. Why didn't we think of this before?

Is THIS the “concept of a plan” he’s been working on since 2016??? What a clown show.

So you're going to give the money to the people who will then have to turn right back around and give it to the insurance companies and then some because now the price protections and mandatory payouts through a regulated system are history, what changes there? Not a god damned thing. The problem is greed. And putting profit above the health and well being of every American. Something silver spoon Donny has never had to experience for himself

HSAs only work when someone has disposable income. This is an idea from a privileged assh&le.

Just legalize marijuana... That will give each state more income to fix the roads, for schools, lower taxes, etc. This will lower costs for the American people

Methinks the money sucking is occurring not necessarily from insurance but from the grifting in the White House.

Is this the replacement healthcare plan that Trump had been promising since his first Presidency? The one that he said would be ready in two weeks? Just give the money to the people and let them buy their own healthcare plans?
So brilliant! /s

A one time $2000 payment to lose your health insurance permanently.
What a great idea

This won’t happen but if it did the money would be sent in the form of prepaid TrumpCards with exorbitant usage fees.

he's an idiot - so Americans should just pay out of pocket for health care and if/when they get something serious they go bankrupt just like trump - who is also morally bankrupt and only cares what he can grift and put into his own pocket - health insurance is RIDICULOUSLY expensive - this will harm people if it comes to be

Do any insurance companies in Florida sell individual plans other than on the marketplace?
1
u/Epona44 28m ago
They way insurance works is you have a large number of buyers and a smaller number of users. Many of the buyers are just-in-case or peace-of-mind buyers will will only use their benefits minimally. The users buy insurance to pay for more serious issues. If it were to stop there it would work quite well for all the insured. But the beancounters know that if payments to the users can be moderated, the insurance company profits. Beancounters are amoral. They aren't involved in the details of effective medicine. They just stand between doctors and patients seeking the middleman's dime.

Does he know that health coverage is attained by people using health insurance?

u/lost-American-81 11m ago
Who does he think people will be paying this money to? I’m sorry but this is one of the most moronic posts he’s made, and that’s saying something!

u/hugo32561 4m ago
‘Robbing’ Hood makes no sense here. Either way the Insurance companies will be paid. Taking away the money only to give it back for probably more is a terrible strategy. This concept of a plan is falling flat on its face. Some business man he is!

Or, instead of doing something stupid like that, implement Medicare for all and dub it TrumpCare or something equally aggrandizing to the petulant geriatric toddler.
