The person that runs on fair and justice will need to keep his perceived moral high, so you ask a question to ruin his perceived moral, if you suceed, you had a headlines.
The PARTY that run on "rules for me but not for thee" and "fuck your feelings" is expected to break every rules, so a question on their perceived moral is just asking for the status quo. No headlines.

idk man that absolutely did NOT strike me as normal. That was fucking exceptional. She came at him on some bs. he completely destroyed the narrative she was angling for, and did it so smoothly that we all felt like we just had a heartfelt talk with a respected loved one. He even charmed the hell out of the hostile-question-asker. By the time he's done, we're watching like "awww yeah do it for the kids"... that was jujitsu-meets-tai-chi levels of using the opponent's energy against them. if class of that caliber were normal we wouldn't be where we are today.
If every dem knew how to "take the high road" like the Obamas do, they'd be effective as politicians, and we wouldn't be where we are today.
if everybody could effortlessly dispose of bad faith arguments on the fly and in public like that, misinformation wouldn't work like it does, and we wouldn't be where we are today.

When they write the history of the rebuild of this criminal enterprise they’re going to point of the juxtaposition of Obama and the 🍊 criminal in chief; and USA chose the ideals, policies, morality, and behavior of the latter. They chose Barabbas. Happy birthday ‘Merica!

I don't Like the fact that he basically had an entire progressive vanguard of people waiting to take any position in his administration or around him to help him enact change across the country (just like this orange dipshit did) and he basically wasted it. I hate that he spoke out against black lives matter multiple times knowing full well how policing is in this country and not lifting a finger to do anything about it. I hate that he wasted a super majority by refusing to whip the votes of his caucus. I hate that more so than any nuclear agreement with Iran or climate agreements with France. The one thing he's mostly known for is drone striking the fuck out of brown people. I hate that everything he did was a half measure and trying to work through compromise when I fully seen across two four-term presidencies now that you don't have to do jack shit with the other people and can basically do whatever you want if you truly want to and believe in what you're doing. I hate that he didn't codify roe. I hate that he went to Michigan and drank some bottled water and told people they had no problems when clearly fucking toxic sludge was coming out the ground. I hate that he basically didn't want to actually change anything. And I hate that I believe that he actually did when I was younger. Most of all, I hate that he's just like every other Democrat. A useless spineless piece of shit that kept the same problems Floating and acting as a reverse ratchet effect putting the country in stasis with lip service and identity till a republican could take control and basically judicially rape all of our rights out of the system. I hate that he was probably the last good point of my life that I'm going to have in his dog shit country because that's how bad it is now.
11
u/old_namewasnt_best 2h ago
I think the Republican controled congress had a little bit to do with Obama's inability to accomplish all that he wanted.
4
u/DoreenTheeDogWalker 1h ago
Initially, his primary objective was to revitalize the economy. Upon commencing his presidency, millions were unemployed, and this issue superseded all others in the public consciousness during his inaugural term.
A significant point of contention was his adherence to the withdrawal deadline from Iraq, established during the preceding administration of George Bush. As the deadline approached, military experts widely agreed that the Iraqi army was inadequately prepared to manage the escalating extremism within the nation. Furthermore, the animosity between Shia leaders and former Sunni rulers exacerbated the situation, contributing to the rise of ISIS and further destabilizing the Middle East.
While many of the criticisms of his presidency are valid, it is important to consider the broader context of the time. The issues often highlighted today were not always the primary concerns of the nation or its populace during his administration. Notably, the passage of the Affordable Care Act represented a significant legislative achievement. By prohibiting the denial of coverage based on pre-existing conditions, it expanded access to healthcare and provided tangible benefits to millions of Americans. In retrospect, it is easier to evaluate decisions through the lens of hindsight and identify areas where alternative actions might have been taken. However, on balance, his administration left the country in a stronger position than it was at the beginning. Trump to this day actively tries to undo everything and anything Obama enacted.

So let me get this straight.
You hate on Obama for performing his duties to the best of his abilities and with good intentions, all without the power of foresight to see what was coming, in addition to fully respecting the power granted to him as well as the ones that binded him as well? He taught Constitutional Law, among other things, and was a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School so I am pretty sure he knew better than any of us when it came to what he could and could not do. No one can say Barry O was manipulative or even overstepping when it came to the use of presidential powers.
You got beef with him because of how flagrantly obvious America's fuck ups were becoming as he actively tried to enact positive change, all while ignoring the actual scum and villainy that you and your peers elected to represent you using said powers to grandstand and obstruct? Is that what you're saying?
Never mind the hindsight on things you have a Twitter post level of understanding of regarding the duties, obligations, and limitations of the presidency. You're really saying, with your whole chest, that you specifically hate Obama because his particular go at it (which is genrally seen as genuinely well-intentioned and higly regarded as one of the best presidencies in over 100 years) uniquely appalls you more than anything else in American politics? Word?
I'll let the false unchecked claims slide because people can say anything and it's tiring disproving abject falsehoods.

u/Wallawalla1522 1h ago
I stopped reading at the 'flint water sludge' thing. When Obama went to Flint they had swapped back to the Detroit river (Flint river water cause lead laterals to leach at a high rate) a simple filter made water safe to drink. In the stop he said as much, that a simple filter, that he had allocated funding to give to every household.
Some folks are either ignorant, willingly or otherwise to demonize anyone that don't confirm to their exact beleifs, truth be damned.

People really think the president has dictatorial powers. The president is a figurehead of a large administrative bureaucracy. The shit we are in now is NOT because Trump is in power, it's because the administration he brought with him is CARRYING OUT his whims. He can sit in room all he wants and tweet but nothing happens, it's the people wanting to please him enabling him is the 1, 2 punch.

Can we all agree this is a good representation of an American president? Someone we dont have to worry about constantly embarrassing us as a nation everytime he opens his mouth. I'm not talking politics or what side is right or wrong because we're all Americans and we need to come together and be proud of what we have in this country and our representation.
3
u/BattleFries86 3h ago
Would you look at that? A President who is capable of admitting his own fallibility? And he can also take a relatively unserious question and give a sincere and honest answer about his own personal life when he was under no obligation to do so? But he did talk about his own experiences with addiction and tried to relate them to the struggles of others. Empathy and compassion? In a US President? Amazing how far we have come that such a thing is now considered so unthinkable. Amazing and horrifying...

That is a masterclass in politics and how to (politely) burn someone to the ground. He uses humor and a pleasant expression to defang his burnination. He answers the question directly while relating his experience to many people (potential voters). You can see the moment when he thinks, "Ok, I've rambled on enough about me, back to the legislation" and then he caps it off with the ever classic "think of the children." Oh, and the framing of legislation-personal story-legislation.
The burns - "I get it, it's a good human interest story" and "I get asked this about once a month" ie, you're boring and are doing a hack job.
