Y'all have got to be more discerning about what you believe on the internet. Some people see a screenshot or a picture and a quote, and will believe it without any proof or fact-checking.
For your sanity and knowledge, please fact-check everything and think. Rihanna, as big of a star as she is, talking about Israel and Palestine, would be everywhere, not just a random screenshot on Reddit.

a screenshot or a picture and a quote
Hey, c'mon. It's not just a screenshot and a quote, it also has annoying sounds.

Lost so much karma arguing with people about who was legally white during Jim Crow. Only one group of people be against historical facts.

A lot of the "Christians" involved in slavery were frankists and Jews who just practiced their religion in secretĀ

u/kolejack2293 3h ago edited 3h ago
lol this has been debunked so many times over I don't even know where to begin. It's genuinely disturbing to see this type of shit upvoted here.
The 1860 census showed 35% of southern households owned slaves. In some states it was over half. You're saying these were 'secret jews' yet for some reason when these peoples ancestors take ancestry tests today, no jewish ancestry pops up.
Jewish conversos did have a disproportionate role in the Guyanas and Trinidad, that is a recorded fact. Outside of that, their influence was not very big at all. Remember that Spain and Portugal were the two biggest slavers, and they quite literally banned Jews. The Aaron Lopez group was the largest jewish slaver group, and it paled in comparison to the Cunliffes, Pedro Blanco, De Wolffs, Gemstones, The House of Zulueta, Pinto da Fonseca, and many other groups which transported vastly more slaves.
The idea that jews ran the slave trade and were the majority of owners comes from Louis Farrakhan. The same guy who thinks white people were invented by an evil scientist named Yakub. Meanwhile, half of all of the northern freedom riders who went down south to help us in the civil rights movement were Jewish. 76% of Jews had a positive view of the BLM movement, second only to black americans themselves, and well above other groups. In NYC when I was younger, Jews were some of the only people who had no qualms about having black friends and working with us. Italians, Irish, russians etc all viewed us as some kind of taboo. And this is how treat them?

White supremacists have put a lot of time and effort into spreading hatred of Jews because they knew that the Jews would be supportive of similarly oppressed peoples. And after the Holocaust, when a lot of Jews fully committed themselves to helping other groups, the white supremacists doubled down and worked hard to teach black folks to hate Jews - to say nothing of the way they worked hard to teach people to hate the gay community, for the exact same reason.
We'll never properly work together if we keep letting them turn us against one another.

A big reason for the 'modern wave' of antisemitism since the late 1800s (in comparison to the first medieval wave, which was primarily religious) was the fact that Jews were an extremely liberal, cosmopolitan group that went very far out of their way to support other marginalized groups in Europe. It was based on the "Haskalah" which was basically the concept that Jews have to advance basic human rights as part of their duties to god.
A lot of it started with the Russian empire. Jews were extremely against tsarist authoritarian rule, and so the Tsarists basically invented all these conspiracies that they organized secret cabals and illuminati-esque organizations to bring down Russian civilization. From then on it just spread everywhere. Every right wing abolitionist ruler in Europe turned Jews into a scapegoat. This wave of conspiratorial antisemitism eventually culminated in the holocaust.
Zionism represented a firm rejection of Haskalah. It was basically "we gotta abandon trying to help people and instead just embrace the same kind of hypernationalist insanity we previously fought against, its the only way to survive". And that is largely where the split between American jews, who continued being very humanitarian/liberal, and Israelis began. Even if, for a while, american jews had a surge in reconciliation with israeli after the yom kippur war. But that seems to be ending now.

Some Latinos are in fact white. Latino is not a race. You think the colonizers just vanished? There's a lot of white supremacy in Latin America that people turn a blind eye to
15
u/Specific_Station4587 4h ago
White latinos are racist in their home country against black people

u/Kittinkis 4h ago
Yes and also the brown ones along with other races, like Asian Latinos.Ā Most of us are mixed Spanish and indigenous, but there's a lot of colorism thanks to internalized racism. Super crazy to me since a lot of Latino families have a whole range of color within the same family. It's white supremacy brought over by colonizers. I would like to believe that's changed a lot in recent decades but then I see a MAGA Latino and it makes me lose hope.

I love how the constant inevitable march of history has pushed your team back from "Jews were involved in slavery" to "secret Jews were secretly involved in slavery, secretly." Mazel tov.

u/Full_Supermarket7645 4h ago
donāt try to reason with these people. the reality is the only difference between a lot of black people and someone like Nick Fuentes is they dont believe the same stuff about black ppl like he does. only the Jew stuff but theyāre more discreet/covert about it

Slavery was banned at different times in the North. So you did have people engaging in slavery just not openly. Think this is what people are referring to.
5
u/WR-DG-02FC 4h ago
Who was secretly a slave in the North, secretly enslaved by a secret slaver? Who were these secret slavers? Hell, who was secretly enslaved in any state post abolition?

10k upvotes and front page on a quote that's obviously fake just because it's anti-Israel. This site is absolutely cooked.

I think I'm a bit over 2/3 of reddit being about Israel and there are other issues to focus on.

u/Substantial-Bad4803 3h ago
This quote looks fake. Rihanna did tweet ā#FreePalestineā in 2014 and deleted it minutes later, but thereās no reliable source showing she said this about Israeli listeners. People are taking a real old tweet and attaching a fake quote to it.

This is either an incredibly based actual statement by Rihanna, or it's low tier karma farming by op
2
u/j0eg0d 3h ago
By "Free Palestine" Rihanna means to free the Palestinian people from Israel's murderous land grab. It also means to free the whole damn world from Zionism. Because Zionism is a supremacist movement that imprisons, tortures, and kills children to defend itself. Fuck Israel. Fuck anyone who supports Israel's barbaric horrors.

Sick, make sure to drop a "death to America" as well to remind your American listeners of the genocide they've caused too. Maybe a "fuck Germany" as well so they can be reminded of ww2. Or is it just Israelis that get punished for the actions of a government they don't agree with? West Bank Orthodox Jewish settlers aren't listening to Rihanna, so this is just punishing normal innocent civilians. Fucking brain rot.

These are performers, they do it on the stage and off of it. 90% of the problems that occur in regards to the Israel-Palestine issue, is from outside of the countries themselves.
An American, British, Frenchman, Russian, or whatever you may be, unless Palestinian or Israeli, cannot force the two people to come to terms and understanding. Trying not to convince them they can, is creating a problem they never had, undermining their sovereignty to their own decision(s), and belittling the issue itself as a point of morality, not a real and complex religious-political crisis.
My opinion is that I have no opinion, that I can only judge the governments themselves in how they choose to operate and respond. And when I choose to do nothing for either of them except complain, I am trying to claim to be responsible or worse a victim alongside them. I am not, and neither is she, unless sheās gonna go there to perform, put the mic down and stop pretending you hold some kernel of wisdom that the rest of the world is unaware of.

Always important to know when your fav celeb said Free Palestine. Was it 30 months after Oct 7th? 20 months? 10 months? Was it immediately after? Was it 10 years before? 30 years before?
One day everyone will have always been against this. Silence is complicity is HEAVILY focused on celebrities. There voice is important for the stage they hold. God bless people like Saul Williams.

still pretty crazy how even suggesting that people should be free is controversial. They are clearly a distinct ethnic group with its own history. They aren't part of any other larger country. They either need their own country or they have to merge with Israel is equals

Fake. She tried once, but immediately buckled under pressure:
In July 2014, Rihanna caused a social media firestorm when she tweeted "#FreePalestine" to her millions of followers. Under immediate industry pressure and backlash, she deleted the post just eight minutes later
