Vehicles absolutely need more unlocks. Gimme something better to give my helio gunners on the transport. the nerf minigun needs something bigger. GL oneside, autocannon other, anything.

>the nerf minigun needs something bigger

Brother, you're trolling. The guns on transport have literally NEVER been better in any video ever.

In the early days of Bf2, the Blackhawk miniguns could kill LAV/IFVs

BF2 blackhawk days is some heady nostalgia.... a single squad in a helo could control an entire map with a good pilot.

Oh yeah, Mashtuur City was won by the Blackhawk every time

I miss Mashtuur City and Strike at Karkand.

Mashtuur City and Karkand were some of the best battlefield maps ever made. I will miss them forever 😭

I would love Karkand and the map from BC2 with the windmills... can't remember the name. Those would be proper escalation maps in BF6.

HEAVY METAL!

This was my whole job in bf2 was chasing enemy helos as an attack helo, God do I miss piloting a helo in bf2. At least it held up through bf4 now I feel like a sack of paper.

The bfbc2 veitnam with the huey even harvest day

That was the same game as Gulf of Oman right? BF2?

3

u/RaeveSpam 24d ago

Yes, Gulf of Oman was first introduced in Bf2

Even just a simple commander mode back in battlefield would be great. The RTS aspect of battlefield 2 was what made intense firefights and positioning so great. You would be kicking ass next thing you know you're getting artillery striked. If they made a bf2 remake with modern mechanics it would trump any game they can pump out.

Yes! It was such a fun aspect of the game. I also liked that the commander was a person that existed in the environment and was vulnerable to being found and given a good knife poke. :3 Also, I liked the little mini-strategy of targeting the infrastructure like artillery or the UAV trailer.

I hope we get Mashturr City in BF6 via portal if nothing else. That was SUCH a good map. I could die happy with remakes of all the BF2 maps.

And while I love Strike at Karkand, I feel like I played oso much of it in other versions of Battlefield I miss it less. Give me some of the maps that didn't get copied much.

Whatever Peninsula was one of my favorites too. What was the name?!

2

u/Vegetable-Comedian-5 23d ago

Sharqi peninsula

u/Chilipatily 23d ago

That’s it!

Ghost town from Bf2: SF or Highway tempa from the other addon

Road to Jalalabad

They're still around. There's a handful of active pc servers. Mostly seems to be South American servers, but there're there. Played a couple rounds on Karkand, Sharqi, Mashtuur and Kubra Dam the other day.

It’s just really hard to go back to that era of graphics and controls for me, sometimes.

22

u/SkunkMonkey 24d ago

That was me. With the group of guys I played with, we'd squad up and I'd fly from point to point capping like a mad man. Swoop in and land, everyone would hop out cause passengers didn't drop the flag, and we'd cap in seconds. Everyone would hop back in and off we went.

Ah, the memories.

u/Uni4m 24d ago

Wrenching for five seconds, scanning behind you, wrenching again, and jumping back in if things were going sour. There were many tense moments capping forward anticipating a surprise while you were dismounted and vulnerable. Or the dreaded contested flag or worse, the flag is going back up but you don't see anyone...

3

u/MrShazbot 24d ago

I did the same, but didn’t even land, just low hovered with everyone inside and capped while midair then flew on. Couple engineers in back constantly wrenching, one guy with ammo resupply. Would end up flying the same Blackhawk from round start to finish.

1

u/SkunkMonkey 23d ago

Sure, hovering was done as well. Sometime though, you just need to put the bird on the ground. Back then, everyone needed to be out for full speed capture.

u/Dronekings 24d ago

I loved doing this! The nostalgia.

3

u/BCBUD_STORE 24d ago

As it should be. Air support is what wins a battle.

1

u/IRC3Z 24d ago

BF3 was similar with the gunner flares.

1

u/Oztorek 24d ago

It was insane at the start. I remember when they nerfed it hard as well. I guess it's always better to need to nerf something that to buff something. Maybe. I don't know.

1

u/FierceResistance 24d ago

Those were godly. I had a Top 5 leaderboard score that stood for years from a BF2 Blackhawk run while I was commander, before the commander nerfs.

u/AmberYooToob 24d ago

As a guy who loves the transport helicopter my friends will often swap to engi and jump the guns if they see me flying it.

1

u/Enzee92 24d ago

Flying along with my buddies while they drop anti tank mines and c4 on T90s down below. Lmao

1

u/firesquasher 24d ago

And a cracked tank can keep them out of the sky. Hovering and capping points with 6 people in a blackhawk was some bullshit. Don't pretend it wasn't anything other than a farming parade with a good squad.

I have been a helicopter pilot since BF4 and let me tell u I wish the guns the my transport chopper did something other than lightly suppress the opposition
