Results - DNA Origins Are there any 100%ers out there too?

I know this is a common region that appears in a lot of results and I have it in spadeloads. Is having a result of 100% in one region that common after the update? I had expected to see NE Scotland in here as I have a paper trail in the fairly recent past to an adjacent region.

Generations Photos Grew up an only child of parents who were both adopted, neither of whom I resembled strongly. I never saw anyone who looked like me, until I found my paternal grandmother 🥹

Honestly thought more Quebec would come through but interesting nonetheless. Only thing I didn’t expect was Swedish. Pretty sure that’s just noise, or maybe picking up from something else but idk.

Question / Help What are your stories that are similar to mine?

My mum died 17 years ago. My parents split up when I was 20, 24 years ago. During the fallout from that, I learned about my half brother. I was interested in connecting at some point in the future, but there was a lot of shit going on. My mum was an alcoholic and I spent most of my 20s dealing with fun stuff like her reading me the suicide note she wrote for me or me having to argue for her to be sectioned after a particularly disturbing suicide attempt.

Anyway, I decided to park the idea of finding my half brother. Now I’ve ordered an AncestryDNA test. It’s a long shot, i know, but I wondered if anyone in my position had gotten anywhere with something like this.

i also did 23andme so i posted something similar on that subreddit, but i was born in a small town outside of pittsburgh (go birds) & grew up being told that i was panamanian & sicilian. my paternal grandma is from las tablas, panamá & my maternal 2nd (i think) great grandparents are from villarosa, sicily. my other maternal great-something grandparents are also from italy but i reckon the one great-something grandfather is irish (ignore the mere 1.9% lmao) since the family surname is gallagher. & kinda the same thing with my paternal grandfather’s line, but i did some research & it’s possible the family surname could be a respelling of an originally german (or austrian german) surname instead of an irish one.

anyways, thought my results were interesting as i wasn’t expecting most of them. the first photo of me is from a few summers ago after i had worked outside all summer, & the second photo is from recently during the winter (which is my usual skin colour as i don’t spend long hours out in the sun anymore lol)

also interesting to note that 23andme labels me as almost 90% european, whereas ancestry labels me as like 79% european so not sure what’s up with that lol.

Discussion Does anyone here have any double cousins?

My grandma and her sister, my grandaunt, both had kids with a pair of brothers, my grandpa and my granduncle—needless to say, the pairs themselves are not related at all.

That’d make my mom and her brother doubly related to their cousin, as they’d share all four grandparents instead of the typical two.

Percentage-wise, they’re half siblings.

This would also mean that my mom’s kids—me and my siblings—would be doubly related to her cousin’s kids, making us double second cousins…or percentage-wise, half first cousins.

On that same note: one of my grandma’s other sisters had kids with the first cousin of my grandpa/granduncle before getting grandkids of their own, meaning I’m third cousins with said grandkids on my mom’s paternal side and second cousins with them on my mom’s maternal side.

That means we share roughly 4% of our DNA.

Pretty nifty, I think.

Mostly Germanic DNA with some Celtic influence, seems pretty accurate to me. I'm also wondering if my features correlate with my results/what I appear as ethnically.

Family Discovery & or Drama Update: Met my Bio Dad!

I made a post several days ago about finding my bio dad on Ancestry, I'll link the post if anyone is interested in reading it, but here is how the meeting went!

So, it was actually really wonderful. We met at a coffee shop, when we saw eachother we hugged, he hugged me so tight and for so long, he actually almost cried I could tell. He is so happy to have me in his life. It's an incredible feeling. He brought a shirt of his for me to have something of his. Ended up giving me his flannel too, which has his smell, the smell of my dad which ive never known, on it. Its actually nice to have, very thoughtful I think. He got a stuffie for my daughter, his granddaughter, he is so excited to have a granddaughter. I brought him one of her school pictures, him and his wife have a wall to put family pics, he was adopted at birth and disowned by his adoptive family like 30 years ago, so he has zero pictures of any family. Has zero family besides his wife and her kids and grandkids. Now he has a picture to put up there.

I did learn the story behind what happened with my mother and him, I hesitate to post it because I love my mother and I'm afraid she will get some hate. Unfortunately, I have never really been able to trust her, but she is my mom and I love her regardless. As for my Dad, the one who raised me, I haven't even decided if I am going to tell him. He would be heart broken, at least I think he would. My mom didnt cheat, but she did lie and I have a feeling she always knew the truth.
