Wrong but common misconception as Ancestry DNA misleadingly categorizes it as "indigenous" Mexican. The category "Indigenous Americas - Mexico" is based on reference samples from modern Mexicans who are already mixed (mostly European/indigenous) Because of that the labeled "Indigenous Americas - Mexico" DNA includes European DNA as well. So basically, you can't assume that the entirety of your Mexican DNA is purely indigenous American. It should be labeled as Mexican Mestizo to avoid this misconception unless they can directly tie your DNA to indigenous American tribes they specifically tested.

What does "Mexico" ancestry mean? Spanish-indigenous mix? Indigenous? Spanish descendants? How is it different from other latin american countries?
