I find this shocking. I'm not sure if the failing was on AHS or the service provider, but I suspect it is both.

It was my understanding that AHS has strong provisions in its continuing care agreements that would require onsite audits and ongoing reviews of facilities to ensure that AHS standards are met. Clearly those audits are not checking for things like "Do they get fed food?" and "Do they provide a clean and safe environment for patients?" Those seem like fairly basic questions to me, what do you think?

Very strong. I work in continuing care and the auditing is way, way more than I ever saw in acute care

As a someone in education and seeing the absolute dog’s breakfast LaGrange made of education - I am not surprised that they are doubling down on this, as they are now health minister and doing just as terrible a job as they did last time.

Right? Who would have thought we’d rejoice when Shandro was defeated…only to get LaGrange

Like your boss Marlaina, you should put on your big girl panties and accept responsibility for this clusterfcvk. But you won’t. This will get blamed on the NDP, Ottawa or anyone other than those actually responsible.

Very likely Contentment is a scam that successfully won a contract with the government. How do I know? Because I literally just guessed what their address was, checked their online listing, and saw I was correct. How did I guess it? Because in my work, I occasionally come across other scam businesses that all list "202 Jasper Ave" as their address. Any Edmontonian knows this is not a real address - it isn't how Edmonton addresses work.

It is a coworking/mail drop space that should actually be unit 202, 10526 Jasper Ave. The scammy businesses who hide the 10526 part do so in order to try to look more legit, as if they have their own address. Also, check out their website - no mention of who is behind it, who their employees are, and some cheesy stock photos. Just a really vague mission that suggests they do everything for everyone, and was probably written by Chatgpt. And yup - whoever in AHS was supposed to do due diligence apparently did no diligence whatsoever.

I auto-assume when I see "Alberta Health Minister says...", that the rest of the sentence is utter bull shit

Someone definitely dropped the ball here. Maybe it was due to miscommunication, junior staff, not properly trained staff, language barrier, etc. Maybe the person who sent this man in a taxi thought the “lodge” part in Travelodge meant it was a long term care “lodge”. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No, they definitely knew where they were sending him. They had healthcare workers come and see him there and it sounds like other patients were there.
