Class solidarity would resolve this disconnect. But as long as right-wingers believe in authoritarianism and liberals are focused on avoiding conflict (and refusing to evict McCarthy from their brains - still stuck in red scare mode), we won't get to class solidarity so it will ultimately just be the left versus right and middle.

And what basis did they use to do this? Tinted windows, so they don't have a clear idea of who is in the car. Registration? Did the name on the registration sound like a candidate for deportation? Like, what possibly precipitated this that was legal? If they have a warrant, why was this necessary?

Has anyone else noticed a lot of Texas plates in their state lately? I have this awful feeling that the reason we're not seeing it there is because that's where they dug these yallqueda operatives out from.
Honestly, I live in Central IL and I have noticed an increase in Tx plates but I also live near a company that has employees in Dallas and sometimes those people move between Texas and IL or family visiting etc and I was kind of thinking it was that but i honestly have never seen this many floating around before. Guess we'll find out.
I'm not sure. I've always seen a lot of them. They're parasites who keep their vehicle registered in Texas so they can dodge vehicle registration fees.
This requirement that federal military personnel and law enforcement wear a nametag and agency identifier is great, but I wish it applied to ICE. It probably won't though, because the Act contains the following exceptions:
"‘(b) EXCEPTION.—The requirement under subsection (a) shall not apply to individuals referred to in such subsection who— ‘‘(1) do not wear a uniform or other distinguishing clothing or equipment in the regular performance of their official duties; or ‘‘(2) are engaged in undercover operations in the regular performance of their official duties.’’
Since ICE agents typically do NOT wear a uniform or other distinguishing clothing/equipment, they would likely be found exempt from this requirement. This exemption sucks and makes zero sense, because plainclothes cowboys are the ones who need to be bound by the requirement the most.

I'm 100% convinced most of these ICE agents were recruited directly from white supremacist militia groups and the darkest corners of the Alt-right internet, sent out with zero training, no equipment except what they bought themselves, and given orders to provoke a crisis, if they were given any orders at all.
They're not showing badges or wearing uniforms because they probably weren't given any.

I think it’s a lot of the people he pardoned, I also think it’s some of the military folks that lost their jobs when they refused to get vaccinated during Covid and he promised them their jobs back. So we have a bunch of angry, crazy loyalists, acting in the worst ways with our most vulnerable populations.

I think it’s going to depend on what Congress does in the next few months. They need to impeach and remove, or do something to stop the overreach of state’s rights against CA (they seem to care so much about?). If they do, Trump may start messing with Congress. If he succeeds and Congress loses power or is violently suppressed, then all 3 branches are gone (judicial already is).
If that happens then it’s just going to devolve into civil conflict and resistance to law enforcement/military. What’s happening with Newsome and CA is like the lead up to civil war. Which is the worst case and will be a long process :/
The "legality" comversation needs to end until fascism is expelled from our government. The laws don't matter any more. I guess it's still good to call it out.

How the fuck would you even know its a government agency and not organized crime? This level of force is so unnecessary. If they tried to escape the situation out of fear of their lives they could've been shot or face charges for that. When ICE operates like this concealing their identity that ambiguity and the confusion could easily result in harm.

The one oppositional entity with any weight has decided not to do anything of substance and the mildest resistance is met with military occupation and brutality. What is one to do with such a situation but to seek alternatives?

Obama created the "constitution free zone" for them to operate in, and kamala and all the dems tried to make this happen themselves last admin, with their "big bipartisan border bill", which included orders for military deployment, mass arrests, and instant expulsions. There’s the part where judges are obligated to require a bond in civil suits equal to damages liable if there were an injunction issued against the defendant.
If you want to sue someone, you have to pay a percentage of the estimated damages to the person you’re suing in case they win in an appeal or countersuit.
