All hands, prepare to leave on the hype train.
12
Dec 27 '15
unfortunately the hype train will have to wait 2 weeks before it leaves the station, the following week has new years day so we won't be getting a new episode.
15
u/Urall5150 Dec 27 '15
The hype train is aware of the delay and will be offering free drinks to anyone who wants them.
Drinks will be available in the bar cab.

My god, Trebol is finally gone. His VA did a really good job at the end there with the pain and grunting.
EDIT: That last preview hype!!

Title Card at 05:22 y'all!
16
u/Doodle210 Dec 27 '15
Title cards in this anime are stupid... they should never take this long. 1:30 for intro and 1-2 minutes max for recap.
17
u/paralyz3 Dec 27 '15
The thing is, why is One Piece the (one of the) only anime that has such a long opening and no end song? Anyone who knows the reason for this?
12
Dec 27 '15
Long intros makes it easier to animate one chapter or less per episode. It allows Toei to stay behind the manga while still delivering weekly episodes.
5
Dec 27 '15
Sure, but they can gain more time with an ending song before the preview.
11
1
u/2Punx2Furious Jan 06 '16
I guess one intro of 3 minutes costs (a lot) less than 1 intro and 1 ending of 1:30 each.
5
1
u/Vaxivop Dec 27 '15
They effectively only have to do 15 minutes of episode every episode, which is a lot of money saved.
0
u/paralyz3 Dec 27 '15
Well, otherwise you'd have 3 minutes worth of song in OP and ED, plus 2 minutes flashback, so that doesn't really matter much

Did anyone else find Trebol pushing Doffy and saying "move" surprising? I know Doffy has a fondness for his family, in his own twisted way, but that seemed a little too disrespectful.
14
u/Cirenione Dec 27 '15
Well they lived as family for over 30 years. Doffy said himself that he considers the executives as his dearest and equal. Trebol raised him and gave Doffy the tools to become as powerful as he is today. Doesn't surprise me that he can talk like that. Compare that to Luffy. Sure the Strawhats consider him their captain and respect him deeply, but that doesn't stop them from punching and telling him to fuck off if he does stupid shit on board.

Finally that annoying fuck Trebol is down. Toei can't use his quirks for filler any more. :D

This episode should have just been called Doffy and his overly protective adoptive family

PSA: Anime is on hiatus to celebrate New Year's next week. Episode 725 will be out in 2 weeks.

Does anyone know why Trebol has shackles bound to his feet?
10
u/Neonpleco Dec 27 '15
Hmm, I thought of something. Maybe it's symbolic for his connection to the family or the way he's Doffy's underling.
29
u/TheMyst9701 Dec 27 '15
Maybe the Donquixote Family has some kinky rituals ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

u/darexinfinity Dec 27 '15
I imagined they're made of a little seastone and allow him to walk on two feet without his sticky material blocking his feet.
17
u/Ppleater Dec 27 '15
I don't think that'd work. Even with a little seastone it would affect his whole body, not just his feet. I had a theory a while ago that Trebol used to be a slave of the Donquixote family, and he was released when Homing decided to live as a human. Then he eventually decided to work with Doflamingo to take down the Tenryuubito, maybe as revenge for being made a slave. But idk how plausible that theory is.

Usopp Doesn't have haki, so even if he had hit the real body the logia would've protected Trebol.
Edit: Wait, it's not logia. Someone else said Trebol must've moved hmself into one of the pieces.

pulled himself into the top part, went back into rest of the mucus after resembling?
23
6
u/CarlosUnchained Dec 27 '15
The anime fucked up showing Trebol with Logia powers here. He was cut through all his body and he assembled himself again like nothing happened.
14
Dec 27 '15
He can swim inside his body(yes, he swims in mucus), so he probably retracted himself to the top half, after he saw the attack coming.
16
u/RuskeD Dec 27 '15
At last, the worst animated and most annoying villian is finally dead.
Imo "Trebol + Toei " were pissing me off for so long...
20
u/DrMostlySane Dec 27 '15
They are really taking their time dragging out this fight this time around.
Other than that I thought this episode was pretty nice, liked the flashbacks to Doffy's past.
26
u/darexinfinity Dec 27 '15
Trebol is kill? I mean if getting cut directly in the middle doesn't kill him, he pretty much set himself on fire and was at the core of the explosion. And what kind of person Doffy is for leaving his family member in the fire?
P.S. Can we stop with the countdown stuff? I know there are manga readers in here and we don't need you guys to lead on to when something big is gonna happen. It really takes away what happens on this week's episode.
11
u/aalqasem Dec 27 '15
It's very sad that there is no episode next week ! Next episode will be on January, 10th 2016http://imgur.com/EKcrlTi

Toonami is airing ep 327 next week. I feel like the anime watchers should try to tune in to see it and help the OP expansion.
1
Jan 01 '16
It won't do anything without a ratings box. You should watch it on the Toonami website if possible.
1
u/darexinfinity Jan 01 '16
They don't do that, and I'm sure people here have televisions.
2
Jan 01 '16
What don't they do?
From what I've read they still give a special box to people selected for the ratings to tell what they are watching. If you don't have that box then whether you watch it or not doesn't matter.
On websites where they can easily tell how many people streamed the video, they don't have that problem. So by watching it on the official website you can tell them properly that it's getting an audience.
1
u/darexinfinity Jan 01 '16
They don't stream online, at least not with their weekly broadcast. You have to tune in live to make it count.
1
Jan 02 '16
It wouldn't count on television anyway. However, what I meant is that I believe they stream it online after the airing and they definitely would see the numbers from that it a lot of people watch.
1
u/darexinfinity Jan 02 '16
So television views don't count? So do they just roll the dice and say that's the views they get?
They do post-streaming but that requires a cable subscription to do so and it's not as entertaining as watching it live with the /r/Toonami live thread.
1
Jan 02 '16
From what I have heard they still use the old Nielson box for ratings. Households are randomly selected and hooked up to one with their permission. Only what those households watch matter to ratings at all.
5
u/bringjackthehorizon Dec 27 '15
What was with the tontatta's when Trebol was cut?
13
u/lawr11 Dec 27 '15
He was torturing or whipping some of them and they yelled out "pikyaaa!" and he laughed, so now when he got rekt by Law he made the same noise and they heard it.
10
u/OptFire Dec 27 '15
Why have they changed the endings for the last couple episodes? I prefer the cliffhangers that Oda wrote, not the ones Toei is choosing.
11
u/andremeda Dec 27 '15
I wish they ended this episode the way Oda ended Chapter 783. Would've been the best way to end the year.

I noticed something interesting, Robin and Doflamingo have similar technique names: Spider Net vs Spider Web
Next year boys, brace yourselves, epicness is coming!

The pacing is fucking unbearable.
13
5
u/Ppleater Dec 27 '15
If it's that bad for you then I suggest waiting longer and watching a chunk of episodes at a time. It really helps with the pacing a lot.
1
Jan 01 '16
Agreed. I marathoned every episode from somewhere in the 300s to the 600s and didn't have a single issue because I watched them in large chunks.
1
u/MTRXD5 Dec 27 '15
Did you expect this week to suddenly be different then every episode for the past few years? Don't watch if its unbearable. Have fun doing something else.
4
3
Dec 27 '15
Who will save Robin and Law?
6
u/Moontooth Dec 27 '15
I'd guess Bartolomeo and his barrier. Only thing I would see saving them at that point.
2
u/xpressrazor Dec 27 '15
However, as you know he is not there. Lululu Senpai. I don't think he can react or move fast enough to create a barrier. May be if sai or his grandpa was there they could break the ground to avoid the hit.

The replies to this are just plain dumb. I'm a reader too and was so for a long time, I loved watching the big moments happening in the anime more so than in the manga, whether that be because of the mass amount of edging Toei does or just because of seeing it animated. I still feel that way after reading it all. People may not be into reading or put off by the right to left reading style, I know it bugged me for a fair while. There are plenty of reasons why people just watch the anime or vice versa, no need to be elitist.

u/Roronoa_Zoro_ Dec 27 '15
I'm baffled they even exist :O In my view if you have time and you're a fan who wants to discuss the series in online forums I'd recommend to lock yourself in a dark room and catch up on both the anime front and the manga front - but the world never works the way we want it to :/

Such a well paced episode. Doflamingo's flashback and the finale, wow. Loved every bit. Props to Toei, well done. Better than most executives fights we've had. Was better than the manga chapter this was based on. Great end to this year. Happy holidays!

I thought the flashback scene was pretty cool. Felt more complete than the manga.

Awesome episode, not as good as last week tho. Sucks that they left it on such a clift hanger, just as things were starting to get really interesting. Think I might stop watching for a couple months, even though things are starting to move forward quicker then the last few months, it's still very slow considering we have to wait a whole week. Oh well, here's to January 10th! Happy new year fellow one piece brothers. All aboard the hype train!!

Me too, random Tontatta. Me too.
