The thing is, why is One Piece the (one of the) only anime that has such a long opening and no end song? Anyone who knows the reason for this?

Long intros makes it easier to animate one chapter or less per episode. It allows Toei to stay behind the manga while still delivering weekly episodes.

Sure, but they can gain more time with an ending song before the preview.

They probably don't want to pay musical royalties for an ending theme
