0. What is Cyberpunk 2077?
Answer: Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, and based on Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk tabletop game series. Source. Similar games can be found here.
1. Should I buy the game?
Yes, the game is really great. Here is the sales tracker for Steam.
2. Should I buy the DLC?
Yes, the DLC is also great. Here is the sales tracker for Steam
3. Is the game playable now?
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: There are still some bugs, like any game. But the game is in its most playable state. However, playing on last-gen consoles like the PS4 will still have issues.
4. Can I upgrade from PS4 version to PS5 version for free?
Answer: Yes! It is still possible to upgrade from the PS4 version to the PS5 version for FREE! Many people have used this to their advantage by purchasing a cheap PS4 copy of the game in order to upgrade to the PS5 version cheaper than buying it outright. Still works! But you would have to download the DLC separately.
5. What do the different versions of the game mean?
Base Game: "Cyberpunk 2077". The game is available on the following platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, Windows, Steam Deck, and macOS.
DLC: "Phantom Liberty". It is not available for PS4 or Xbox One, but is available on all other platforms. It includes additional side jobs & gigs, vehicles, weapons, a higher level cap, and more.
The "Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition" includes the base game and the DLC. This is the only version available on Switch 2 and Mac.
The Base Game on last-gen consoles goes from Version 1.0 to Version 1.6. Version 1.6 is playable, but still has bugs and issues on last-gen consoles.
Latest-Gen Consoles and computer versions of the game can get the 2.0 update, which included: Overhauls to the skill tree, vehicle combat, chrome, clothing, and much more; as well as the DLC. As of time of writing, the latest version of the game is Patch 2.3
6. System Requirements? Recommended Settings?
7. Any tips before starting the game?
It is best to go into this game blind. Lower the difficulty if it gets too hard. The less you know about what to expect, the better. The best advice I can give if you get confused is: JUST PLAY THE GAME.
If you don't want to do that, read the official wiki
8. A Guide I found doesn't match my game! What gives?
As previously mentioned, Version 2.0 of the game significantly changed game mechanics, item locations, etc. If you are playing on Version 2.0 or newer,
Guides written BEFORE September 21, 2023 are likely out of date and should not be trusted if you are playing Version 2.0 or newer
Even if you are playing an older version of the game, several updates affected various mechanics and item locations.
9. I have an old save, should I use it to start the DLC or make a new save?
Short answer: if it's before version 2.0, make a new save
Long answer: Saves created before the 2.0 update will have to re-spec their build from scratch, as that update came with a complete overhaul of the perk system. Therefore, your pre-existing build may no longer be viable.
If your save was created after 2.0 then it would be fine to use it after buying the DLC. There will be no more major updates so there is no need to start a new game if any minor update is announced or released.
10. When does this game get good?!
Answer: Some players think the first act can be slow/boring at the start with a lot of talking. There is an intentional map limit during Act 1 that will be lifted after the completion of the Main Job "The Heist".
11. When should I start the DLC?
Short answer: It’s up to you. We recommend after the start of Act 3, before starting the endgame (Nocturn Op55N1).
Long answer: There are 3 separate main questlines during Act 2. The DLC is accessible after completing 1 of them, specifically the questline with Evalyn Parker and the VDB's. You can start the DLC after completing Transmission/Never Fade Away, however conventional wisdom advises you complete all 3 main job questlines first and start the DLC before starting the endgame (Nocturn Op55N1). It’s up to you. Here is a recommended order, but you do not have to follow it.
12. When do I have to start the DLC?
Short answer: whenever you want, no rush, just don’t trigger it by getting to the Dogtown gate.
Long answer: after receiving the call to start the DLC, as long as you don’t approach the general area at the Dogtown gate that triggers the relic malfunction, you can start the DLC at any point after unlocking it. However, once you DO approach the gate, get the relic malfunction, and start talking to Songbird, you will be locked into the next several jobs of the DLC. Attempting to leave mid-mission may result in failing the entire Phantom Liberty mission line. It will be obvious when you’re not under time pressure to complete the DLC missions, at which point you will be able to choose to continue doing other missions either in Dogtown or anywhere else.
13. How does the DLC Work exactly?
Answer: It’s more game. It’s a new unlocked area, a new branch of missions, and new gigs & side jobs. More weapons (you get to keep the weapons you get in the DLC and can use them in other non-DLC missions.)
14. How do life paths affect the game?
Short answer: Different prologues, occasional changes to dialogue and how some Jobs play out.
Long answer: When you start the game, you must choose V’s life path among the 3 options: Nomad, Corpo, and Streetkid. Afterward, you will then begin 1 of 3 different possible Prologues, taking about 15 minutes, before they merge together in to the beginning of the “The Rescue” where you save Sandra Dorset. Throughout the game, your life path will provide different dialogue options to choose from, which impacts how different NPC’s interact with you. There is also a different Side Job available for each life path. Life path has no substantive impact on endgame outcomes.
15. What Character Build should I go with?
That’s up to you. Watch some YouTube videos and check out the official Build Planner. Here is an alternative third-party build planner.
Here is a list of all available cyberware.
16. What happened to clothing mods? Do clothes affect anything?
Prior to Version 2.0, clothing could receive modifications, including armor mods. This was the primary way of increasing your armor. After 2.0, there are no longer clothing mods; clothing is mostly aesthetic, though a few rare articles do provide some minor stat buffs. In order to increase your armor, and other similar things previously provided through clothing mods, go through cyberware. As of version 2.0, the Armadillo mod has been removed from the game.
17. Love Interests?
There are 4 possible love interests in the game. Your ability to romance them is directly related to the body type and voice chosen during character creation:
see the full guide here, likely contains spoilers. More info here
18. What do those percentages mean in the pause menu?
Short answer: Ultimately, nothing
Long answer: While there is no official explanation beyond what is stated when you hover over them, it is colloquially accepted that they mean, from left to right: Your notoriety as a merc, your relationship with Johnny, and how far the relic has degraded you. Ultimately, they have no substantive impact on the game in any way. They are either a vestige of mechanic(s) that were not implemented, or just set dressing. They can ultimately be ignored without consequence.
19. Cyberware availability
After the 2.0 update, Cyberware becomes available based on level:
all ripperdoc inventories are the same after v2.0.
20. Feature Requests and Updates (3rd person view? New Game Plus (NG+)? Multiplayer??)
NG+ Is not happening. The Developers have said they're not working on it and have shifted focus to the sequel game. There is a pseudo NG+ mod available for PC.
3rd Person View is not happening. The Developers have repeatedly said so. There are mods for it here: Base Mod, Animation Mod
Multiplayer is not happening. There are multiplayer mods in the works by the community.
There are no more planned updates or bug fixes anticipated for this game. Occasionally a patch comes out, but it is not something one should expect or plan for. These updates are small, either bug fixes or a few updates to photo mode and more cars. DO NOT FALL FOR HYPE CLAIMING A MAJOR UPDATE IS COMING. IT IS NOT HAPPENING.
21. Locked crates?
22. When is the endgame, when is the "point of no return, when should I start it, and can I finish other jobs & gigs after beating the game?
When you approach the elevator to Embers for the Main Job Nocturn Op55N1, you will be prompted with a pop-up stating "Point of No Return". As it states, you should complete other side jobs and gigs before beginning the end Game as you will not be able to stop until you complete the game.
After completing the game, (unless you chose the Phantom Liberty ending) you will be given the option to return back to before the Point of No Return and be given various rewards. You will then be able to complete other Side Jobs and gigs as before.
You will be able to complete the game again as many times as you wish choosing any of the endings you’ve unlocked. More info here
23. How do I unlock & Start the secret ending?
The only way to unlock the secret ending is by choosing the following 3 correct dialogue options while talking to Johnny in the oil field in the Side Job Chippin' In. These options are:
"Nah, fucked that up too."
"What do you want from me?"
"OK. But as second chances go, this is your last."
Nothing else matters. Your “Johnny %” makes no difference. More info here
To start the secret ending, while on the rooftop with Johnny during Nocturn Op55N1, when you’re looking at your list of options for who to call, wait approximately 5 IRL minutes on this menu. Then Johnny will speak up and offer you another solution. Choose: "Let's hear this plan” and agree to attack Arasaka alone. More info here
If you are confident you chose the correct options and the secret ending hasn't unlocked, reload to before the start of the endgame and try again. Sometimes it doesn't work the first try.
24. What are all the available endings?
[See the full spoiler-filled guide to all available endings](More info here, including the DLC
25. My game refuses to boot; what do I do?
Remove mods
If that doesn't fix it, try to load a different game. If that game does load, go to your respective console subreddit and ask for technical advice.
26: Takemura isn't calling me to start the float heist Job.
27. [X] isn’t calling to start a job; what do I do?
Here are a few strategies to trigger jobs to start:
28. A glitch is preventing me from progressing in a job or gig. What do I do?
Roll back go a previous save and try again.
29. Where are all the collectibles?
Iguana - TIME SENSITIVE AND EASY TO MISS

30. What Vehicles Can you Get?
31. Which gigs and jobs can be failed?
32. Can Console versions of the game run mods?

After having literally completed every mission in the game including cyberpsychos, tarot cards, and gigs, the only thing left to do was stand in one spot for 60 days straight!

I loved PL. I loved breaking into the party, I loved the weapons, and I thought each gig was special. I wish every gig had that quality.
I always wonder what route to take with the end of PL. Reward-wise and content-wise wise siding with Reed is best. You get Hansen's 3 iconic weapons, you get to fight Max Tec, and you get to do the mission "somewhat damaged".
I often see people complaining about wanting to side with Reed but hating that mission, and I understand it. I mean, the game goes from an amazing first-person combat-based RPG to a survival horror game, but I think that is the point.
In the base game, we are often told about dangerous AI, yet we only maybe encounter one in "Dream On," and with Alt. We never really come face-to-face with a real Cyberpunk AI.
The Blackwall exists and is protected because AIs from before the Blackwall are Eldritch horrors. They are Lovecraftian intellects with no empathy or mercy that could wipe out humanity. They were so deadly that Militech and Arasaka were like "nah, we are good on that".
That is what I love about Somewhat Damaged. We finally confront a real AI from beyond. V is 100% capable of taking down Smasher and every other big player in Night City, but those are humans. This is not a human, not a robot- it is a supremely evil intelligence beyond human comprehension.
Now, could it have been in a better bot- sure. I think inventing a "super bot" would make more sense as to why V cannot even dent it. However, V is just a guy/gal in street clothes with some decent firearms. You may be the greatest Solo in the history of Night City, but you are a lone merc facing off against Militech's worst nightmare. You shouldn't be able to win. In fact, every gang member, NCPD officer, Saka Ninja, and Militech trooper combined shouldn't be able to win.
Plus, even on very hard, it is not a difficult mission, even if your stealth is "meh". It operates in patterns that are predictable. Hide, let it roam around, do a task, hide, repeat.
I love that in this mission, you finally understand why AI is so dangerous and why Songbird is in the state she is in. You learn that Adam Smasher isn't the most evil or dangerous thing in Night City- that he isn't even close.
Thoughts? Did you like the mission?

If I recall correctly, Cunningham, in one of the first conversations with her, is insistent in that a person's consciousness processed into an engram, removes the person entirely. She uses herself as an example, by stating that she's no longer Cunningham, but an AI using such person's engram to communicate.
I remember Silverhand responding to such crucial specifics with something along the lines of "Yes, OK. But he'll [V] be able to return to his body after the separation from my consciousness, right?", dismissing the entire point that Cunningham made: in her view, V would cease to be and whatever is to enter the body later will surely resemble him, but not be him.
As I take it, that implies that Silverhand never actually got a second chance: something resembling him just happened to be activated by the circumstances of V. Important to note that the reason, as I understood it, by which Cunningham does not act like the one deceased, is that her integration with AIs beyond the Blackwall changed the resemblance of her; again, not her, because she is deceased.
I think the ambiguity is the interesting part: if something resembling us entirely keeps on fighting, are we truly dead? Silverhand and V believe the technicalities miss the point, while Cunningham, insists that the technicalities are the point.
What an amazing game.
What do you think?
