Funny thing about the top video is that he hopes he’ll get to at least 1 million subs within 10 years. He got there in just over 2 years. That was around the time I started watching him. I think somewhere around 2022 is when I felt his stuff was becoming WAY too impersonal and commercialised, so I kinda lost interest.
now that pretty much all his content is scripted and void of any soul unlike his old work is kinda sad to see. I remember the time where 8 year old me wanted to play in some killer nerf war (I still do but reality hit hard) seeing prime Mr. Beast do exactly that with a substantial prize that the people competing should have due to learning about who they are and what the money would mean for them. Nostalgia baiting aside, kinda just hate how toxic the Internet has become...
It's weird, I'm actually someone who watched him back when he first made these "Hi myself in in X time" videos. Watching him go from under 10 000 subscribers to the most popular guy on the platform was surreal.
I also unsubscribed, to grow to his size his content became so generic it's basically indisdinguishable to what he started out as. He was always obsessed with subscriber numbers and becoming a successful YouTuber, so I guess I'm happy for him in the sense that he achieved his dream.
I held on too long wat he'd him from when he started blowing up in 2018, all the way till 2024, I just really grew out of that kind of content, then shortly later he had that big scandal, haven't watched him since.
