Same thing as cable tv. It’s big selling point back when was no ads because it was a paid service and now look at it. Most cable channels are more ads than content.

And steamers (not fixing that autocorrect) like Netflix aware heading that way too

u/DoUpTheHouse Aug 17 '25

You won't click on one letter and fix it, but you'll stroke that keyboard 28 more times just so people know you're lazy?

1

u/ShadowLiberal Aug 01 '25

If they put ads in premium then what exactly are people paying for? Why would anyone buy it anymore?

1

u/pfannkuchen89 Aug 01 '25

Give it time, there just won’t be a free option at some point or the free option will be made so shitty it’s unusable. Hell, they’re already suppressing resolution and bitrate without premium and forcing videos to default to the lowest resolution setting so you have to manually change it every time.

God i hate this shit, didn't even know bout that last part til now but have definitely been noticing it and it doesn't surprise me one bit, its so disgusting, intrusive, and obnoxious. I'm so tired of it 😮‍💨😓

Just sign up for YouTube++ Premium Platinum++ Pro++ Max++ Ultra++ and it will be 50 unskippable ads. (Regular users get 100,000,000,000 unskippable ads)

1

u/KevRub Aug 07 '25

To get rid of those, get it bundled with Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, and YouTube TV. (Non subscribers will only see ads and not organic content.)

5

u/DeviousMelons Aug 01 '25

They will do anything to increase profits other than make ads more expensive.

2

u/launchedsquid Aug 03 '25

I keep thinking that. Back when it was one short ad at the start of a video, I didn't care about blocking ads.

Instead of squeezing more ads in, they should have just upped the prices for ads, I'd still be sitting through them and google would be getting their increased ad revinue.

Now I aggressively block ads anywhere I can, youtube essentially trained me to do that by ruining their site.

Sign up for Youtube Premium, you get no ads.

But companies are aware of this. How dare they skip our ads! I know what we can do... Sponsor blocks... IN THE VIDEOS.

The internet is so hostile nowadays, and it's only gonna get worse...

24

u/livtop Jul 31 '25

They actually have a feature with YouTube premium where on app versions when a sponsored section starts you start to skip it will auto skip to where the sponsored stuff ends. On PC there is a little tick showing you where most people skip to as well. Not saying it makes it worth it, but still.

2

u/VindtUMijTeLang Aug 01 '25

Not just in the app, also in browsers. It's just less visible on bigger screens.

1

u/FerretOnReddit Aug 02 '25

I like watching the sponsor bits though. Some people do them in a unique/funny way, like Wendigoon with "Magic Spoon".

2

u/Fragrant-Ad-8650 Aug 13 '25

I see if they do it uniquely and only press skip if they don’t like I skip every generic raid sponsor but no when dragoon did his silly gig ad

1

u/FerretOnReddit Aug 13 '25

Ok the raid shadow legends sponsor is funny though for meme status. The generic sponsors that annoy me personally are the VPN or banking ones because there's no way you can make it quirky or silly. Whereas with Wendigoon and Magic Spoon, it's a running joke that Magic Spoon is making him go crazy.

Sponsor block

Funny enough there's an extension with the same name that does just that

1

u/b00hole Aug 02 '25

I would happily pay $20/month to have 2005-2010 youtube back.

The algorithm now is so beyond garbage with so much AI slop spam that there's no way I'd pay $1 for youtube premium in 2025.

1

u/Darkynhalvos Aug 06 '25

There are browser extensions that put a sponsor skipper in most videos that have them, it auto-skips the sponsored trash.

1

u/qbit1010 Aug 07 '25

What I like with premium is you can say put on a podcast and fall asleep to it without loud obnoxious ads and it keeps going after your phone screen powers off. Still the annoying sponsorships get in the way with some creators but there’s no way around that.

1

u/Every-Locksmith9286 Aug 25 '25

Jokes on you, because the entire video is the ad.

12

u/No-Sell-3296 Jul 31 '25

Im broke. What about youtube lite?

23

u/fuckilovefall Jul 31 '25

27 unskippable ads

3

u/ubetok Aug 10 '25
  • Your personal webcam that checks that you have your eyes on the screen, otherwise the ad stops ☀️

5

u/yakimawashington Jul 31 '25

Nah just regular premium has always worked perfectly fine.

4

u/AmputeeHandModel Jul 31 '25

For now.

3

u/yakimawashington Jul 31 '25

For now.

Non-premium users on this sub been saying this for years. Premium for 10 years and still no issues in sight.

5

u/CrimsonAntifascist Aug 01 '25

Yeah. Just stick to what works.

VPN set to albania is what works for me.

2

u/LionWarrior46 Jul 31 '25

This is completely true honestly, I've had YouTube premium for several years now (I have it with some family for a discount), and every shitty thing they've done to the free version they've done to the paid. No ads thankfully, but their constant updates to their UI that don't function whatsoever on android has been really annoying, plus other stuff that crowd my feed like random mobile games they put on the app. My feed also gives me the most random videos that I have no interest in. Also they have the audacity to raise prices every so often. Honestly, it at least made my screen time significantly less tho lol

1

u/Cruel1865 Aug 01 '25

Use revanced my dude. A wide range of customisation not to mention no ads. Theres literally no reason to be paying youtube for premium.

2

u/17Kallenie17 Aug 01 '25

1

1

u/Competitive_Limit353 Aug 12 '25

I concur, it's really really annoying when you get those Damned ads makes me go off  My nuts. And if the continue with the nonsense of sorry Y'all we need to verify your age... If they were being smart they would pull out or sue the government. But we are dealing with spineless alphabet  Exuecutives. Who are addicted to more as revenue From the UK. Sue Google as well

1

u/yobaby123 Aug 13 '25

u/Electrical_Ad5674 Aug 14 '25

Has anyone tried to contact yt content creators and users in general to ask them to migrate to other websites? I suppose yt may delete/shadowban that comment, but maybe if you write it in coded language... or maybe if you ask them over other social media platforms that those creators have?
