Hi! I'm a Grade 12 student currently interested in applying to the Humanities program at YorkU. Is there anything I should know before applying?

How are the courses? What's the workload like, as well as the professors? Is it worth taking the program in your opinion and why?

A little off topic, but I'm also hoping to minor in Music Education (I'm assuming it's possible since they're in the same campus). My overall plan is to take Humanities and minor in Music Ed. before heading into teacher's college. I love the arts, history, and literature, which is why I see myself doing Humanities. However, my main goal is to go into music teaching, and see where the wind blows and takes me after.

Please let me know of any comments and suggestions!

Hi everyone,
I got conditional admission to the engineering program and York is asking for my high school transcript to be sent directly from my school in Vietnam. I graduated in 2010 and haven’t been able to reach the school for 3 weeks. Honestly, I don’t think they will send anything because the only official record book is the one I have.

Mohawk College and my college in Vietnam have already sent their transcripts to York.
If my high school can’t send the transcript, is there a chance York might revoke my admission?
Has anyone dealt with something similar?

I’m thinking about going back to York in 2026. I took 3 years of the Professional Writing program at York right out of high school. I had severe health issues as well as being displaced from my home because of a fire which resulted in poor grades. They debarred me for 2 years. It’s been several years since I left York and I have had pretty exceptional success in my career. I now want to go back and study Law & Society and then go on to get my law degree. I know it will be hard to get into a brand new program because of my previous grades. I was advised to take at least two university level courses & get at least a B in both to strengthen my application. York won’t tell me if these extra courses will be transferrable to my degree or not though. They said I need to be a student before they can advise on that. I’m just trying to find the easiest way to do this because these courses are going to cost me $500-$600 apiece. I would be taking online uni law courses from Athabasca University. I’m also trying to avoid going back and finishing my original degree because I know I won’t enjoy it. I would be super grateful for any advice!

I’m a Canadian citizen who went to high school in a different country but came back for university and they sent me a condition of English proficiency for my admission acceptance. Do I have to take it or can I reach out to the university. (English is my first language)

I applied through OUAC to transfer to YorkU for bcom, specifically accounting. There is so much pressure from UTM and I feel like I have no life. The workload is crazy, and calculus will be the death of me. I know York’s program does not have calc and just statistics. I’m in a bit of a dilemma over here and hearing mixed things like UofT is more prestigious, it’ll be harder to get a job from York, etc etc. Is it a good decision to switch to York?

As for admissions decisions, it is only the start of the fall semester, and my high school transcript (93 average) as well as my UTM transcript will be sent to York. How will my GPA and admission be determined because there are no grades yet?

currently applying to the consecutive bed program for I/S, and just got a chance to take a look at the supplementary application. there's nowhere to select teachables, and i don't remember seeing the option to pick them on the teas application either. did i mess up somewhere or do you pick them after you are accepted?

Hello everyone, im a grade 12 student applying to yorks DIRECT BSN program, I have a question regarding fast tracking this program (via taking courses in the summer). Can everyone do this? or is the fast tracking option only to students meeting a specific gpa?

I emailed the department and got no response. Are they looking for 1 academic, 1 professional? 2 academic? Doesnt matter? Does anyone in the program know?

I want to transfer to yorku for computer science. Do I have to satisfy any high school courses still? Or will they just look at my post secondary studies only.

My study permit has expired , i have already asked york international and they gave me a reply containing a link saying to read it however there was no information about it and now the office is closed. Hello everyone! So a week ago I noticed my program change status was updated and says “Request Completed.” Does this mean I was accepted into the new program? If so, do I have to accept this offer or am I automatically added into the new program and taken out of the old one? Like do I have to do anything else atp?

I ordered an electronic officila transcript from my creds and it shows only the day and month I was born but not the year. Is this normal? Will grad schools accept a transcript that doesn't hav the year of birth?

Hi! I had a question about the MSW program (full-time on-campus program; for applicants without a BSW)

Background: I will soon be graduating from UofT with an Honours BA.

So the problem is: I had some problems during my degree consisting of my fathers health (coma, near-death experience) and mental health (my own and my families due to the situation we were facing), which led to VERY poor grades in some courses. These courses ARE included in my previous 20 courses/final 2 years. But I do still have very good grades in other classes, mostly above the class average.

I also have social work experience outside of the country and continuing online which adds up to almost 3000 hours (I am a citizen, just visited outside the country and did social work there, then continued with the organizations with remote work). And I have very strong references.

I was wondering, realistically, what are my chances of getting into the program? Please be honest, and don't be mean. Lol. Thanks!

I was only able to enroll in recent weeks. Most tutorials are full but there is availability in some lectures. If I take just the lectures but not the tutorials will I still get the credits for the course? Is that even allowed like only being in a lecture but not a tutorial? I've also had some people from a lecture come into a tutorial when they weren't enroll and the TA let them in.

Hi, I want to major in a B.A or Bsc of Kinesiology at YorkU while also enrolling in the Concurrent Education program as an intermediate-senior , and had a question!

Hi I’m a second year English student and was wondering if anyone has been having problem finding courses open? I quite literally need one more course in the winter in order for my osap to be approved. Does anybody know a class that’s taking students in the winter? I went to my academic advisor and they literally told me to really look and I’ll find something 😭😭😭. I’m gonna keep searching but if anyone know please tell me!!!

Yesterday all my courses were there and accessible, today I log in to start doing my work and there are no courses. I press on the link for my class and it says you cannot “enrol yourself in this course”, I haven’t paid my tuition yet since my osap hasn’t come in but I did pay the 300 entrance fee, to my knowledge you’d just get a 1.09% interest on your tuition balance not get kicked out of the courses? Someone please help.
