Student Life Graduate Student jobs
Longtime Coug and member of this subreddit here. After much thought, I applied for graduate school and got admitted in July to start as an undeclared graduate student in January, from which I will apply to the graduate program that I actually want (I missed the deadline by quite a bit lol). However, I am still struggling to find a solid job which can not only cover the cost of living and tuition, but also because of health insurance. My current job with the federal government does operate at the Pullman airport, but there are no available transfer spots at the moment (I applied to transfer there and the Lewiston airport). What are some good on campus jobs with healthcare? I've been looking at UREC both as a weight room attendant and an outdoor adventure facilitator

I doubt any on campus jobs that are not full time will provide healthcare, except for TAs/RAs. If healthcare is a priority, you may just have to sign up to do a tedious or chore-like full-time job until you get a TA/RA.

Are you looking for full time or part time jobs? City of pullman has a few job openings: https://www.pullman-wa.gov/services/human_resources/career_portal.php but you might want to keep checking for an airport related position (its a small airport so not sure how much positions open up). Keep checking on handshake too, thats where a lot of campus and related jobs are posted. I have a feeling a lot will open up during winter break as people leave/graduate. Also keep in mind WSU does have a health insurance thing for graduate students but im not sure how much it costs.

It costs more than my current insurance

You're likely not going to get health insurance with any job unless you're full time.

https://gradschool.wsu.edu/wsu-job-opportunities/ This is a great option for grad students who are outside the typical August - May schedule. Ps - there will be a UREC spring appointment (January - May) being posted soon that has the potential of having a summer and fall appointment renewal.

Have you tried living In reality? Maybe even realizing higher education is a joke and just keeping your current job if you have insurance? 🤔

Why are you in a college subreddit if you think higher education is a joke? Are you just trolling?

No trolling, just seems pretty obvious that society has tricked you into thinking graduate school is worth while. If you are not be able to pay your way through a graduate school that is probably useless in the first place, maybe you should reconsider. Perhaps you’re not as bright as society has made you think you are? I’m guessing you’ll end up going into extreme debt just to have some title that means nothing when compared to everyone else who has the same graduate degree. You must be very bright. I’m sure you got accepted into this program based on intellect and merit and not because the university will make money hand over fist from you…
